Hailing from metal hotbed Saudi Arabia? wait? What? Saudi Arabia. Wow.

Ok. Hailing from the HOT Saudi Arabia we have Grieving Age. They play a sprawling death doom that sounds almost a bit Celtic Frost-ish at times.

Perhaps the only thing longer than the thesaurus masturbatory song names , i.e. "At The Licentious Abortionist's Abattoir, Thine Disinherited Gravid Worms Adjure Excruciatingly..." is the actual album itself. Five songs on two disks totaling an hour and 45 minutes and change of death doom. I guess you have to write long songs if you're going to title them "Till the Forlorn Opprobrious Malady Thrives Amongst the Stridulous Indigents We!" Bands like Torche and American Sharks pen songs so short you probably couldn't spit that title out before the closing notes of the tune.

(Plagiarizing a prior review of mine)

In short, every conceivable component you could hope for in an Exodus Grieving Age (or any Thrash death doom) album is present in droves. Plenty of droves. In fact, too much droves. And that is one of this album's two biggest drawbacks.

I enjoyed it, the opening strains "Merely The Ululating Scurrilous Warblers Shalt Interminably Bray!!" reminded me of Process Of Guilt's "Circle"? but an hour into the album it was starting to wear out its welcome. With another 45 minutes to go.

/TomGWarrior "UGH!"

In future, I'll probably break this up into different installments when I feel like revisiting it.

Worth your while if you are into the whole death doom thing.

Song titles is really pissing to read. Its very annoying.

Anyway, gotta have to check out the album only on the basis what Arabians did this time.

Never played it back to back, gets a bit too repetitive and borders on boredom (like you implied). Very good album though.

I just saw the name of this album and was hoping for more extraordinarily long song names which make no sense but act as a self-parody. I wasn't disappointed. Gave me a chuckle or two.
