To fit more on you probably should have just done one per band (for example you got a few bathory albums on there), nice list either way

I think Enthrone Darkness Triumphant deserved a slightly better place. Also Nightside Eclipse should be higher too. Thumbs up for Bergtatt at 8th place! However your Number 1 is a bit ... fail. A Blaze in the Northern sky is better than Transylvanian Hunger, by a large bit too I think! But I Agree with most of the listings here. So Thumbed up
I will never budge on Transilvanian Hunger. True, A Blaze in the Northern Sky has better standout tracks, without a doubt. But as an album, TH is so cohesive, such a unified piece of dark art...it is unsurpassed in my mind. Pardon the shoegaze reference, but I see Transilvanian Hunger not only as Darkthrone's masterpiece, but a masterpiece of the genre -- black metal's Loveless -- the tracks are inseparable and the album stands alone. It is hypnotic and entrancing.
Your objection is dully noted, and even understood; but I see things differently. Thanks for the comments!

I like your idea...I'm going to give it a try as I edit the list. If I don't like how it comes out I will change it but its worth a shot.

It's just an idea, of course a few bands are going to have multiple albums that are fantastic

Great to see the early two by Gorgoroth.
It's hard for me choose out Darkthrone's first four, but would probably go with TH.
I like Immortal's first. Also glad to see Satyricon's first.
Great list!
Hail Darkthrone!

Another thing though, your list is missing at least one album:
- Limbonic Art: In Abhorrence Dementia
Seriously, that is one of the best (symphonic) black metal albums ever created and needs to be in this list ASAP!

I agree!
Looks like I'm being ignored by the creator of this list, which I do not like at all. A list without In Abhorrence Dementia isn't worth my +1. I'll come back in a while to see if it's added.

Well, each one's tastes are different, but that album was indeed one of the best surprises I had in the 90s in relation to Black Metal!
In the 90's I wasn't listening to metal at all, haha. Anyway, I heard that album last year and was totally blown away by it. Definitely in my top 5 black metal albums ever.

Huh. Two Dissection albums... but you omit the melodic black masterpiece by Sacramentum?
'Far Away From The Sun' smoked Dissection's entire discography in 45:59 minutes. Not to say Dissection's not great, but... Come on.

I like Dissection better than Sacramentum. Like, WAY better. I agree Far Away from the Sun shouldn't have been omitted entirely - that was an oversight, but I've tried to love the album because so many others do, I really did, but it just feels too polished, too precise...like it was made in a melodic BM lab or something. Anyways, FAFTS has been added. Thanks for the comment.

I'm revisiting some of my old lists and just went through this one. I hadn't heard In Abhorrence Dementia at the time -- only the Moon in Scorpio (which probably just missed the cut) -- but you're right that it deserves a spot. However, I don't just add albums because people tell me too, especially not because they threaten to withhold a +1... It's been a couple years, but if you end up reading this, there ya go...
Well, I can't say I'm proud of that 2+ years old comment of mine.
But I still gave the list a +1 at some point. Good to see you added it. I used to prefer In Abhorrence Dementia to the debut, then vice versa and now I simply don't know. They're about equally great to me.

I really like the list and your reasoning for TH at number 1 is something I totally agree with...
But (and I hate to be that guy but I cannot help it) the title says Second Wave, isn't Bathory First Wave?
