Merry Christmas, my fellow metalheads!
Inspired by Qualeen's list, I meticulously kept track of how often I listened to every album this year. I present to you my top 50 most frequently listened-to albums of the year 2022, ordered by number of full listens. In other words, here are the albums that I've been most obsessively addicted to over the past year! Frohe Weihnachten und einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr!

For people interested in fun statistics, here is some data for my list: Statistics: Countries: USA = 20 Australia = 4 UK = 3 Norway = 3 Austria = 3 France = 3 Sweden = 2 Denmark = 2 Germany = 2 Hungary = 1 Finland = 2 Israel = 1 Poland = 1 Greece = 1 The Netherlands = 1 Costa Rica = 1 Years: 1970-1979: 1 1980 - 1989: 8 1990 - 1999: 12 2000 - 2009: 11 2010 - 2019: 6 2020 - 2022: 13 Genres: Death = 14 Black & Folk = 13 Doom & Gothic = 10 Thrash = 7 Sludge & Hardcore = 5 Heavy & Power = 2 Conclusions: While I do branch out to several countries, most of my addictions still tend to come from the US. I've explored more albums released between 2000 and 2009, while revisiting personal favorites from the 90s. To prepare for the MS Awards, I also listened to many albums released this year. My favorite genres remain black and death, it seems. Although I began exploring more doom and sludge. Overall, a very fun year of metal for me! I can't wait to see where my musical interests will take me next year

I'm not a big fan of the genre, but the eerieness on that one is spot-on Quote: Yeah those are great, especially Gojira's. The top 4 on my list (Show No Mercy, Melissa, Annihilation of the Wicked, The Way Of All Flesh) have been extremely addicting to me over the past year. Other than those top 4, the best new discoveries for me this year that will probably over time be among my all-time favorites are: Acherontas | Vamachara Virgin Black | Sombre Romantic Kypck | Черно Melechesh | Emissaries Neurosis | Souls At Zero Thy Catafalque | Sgùrr Kvelertak | Kvelertak My plan is to document my new discoveries with my Currently Listening... lists and these end-of-year lists. Then I'll eventually create a list (or article) like musclassia's list where I show how my interests have changed over the course of several years.
