"Dark metal" is one of the terms that gets thrown out a lot, and even if a lot of times it's used to describe radically different sounds, I don't think it would be controversial to call Idol Of Fear's Trespasser as dark metal.

So I'm at the end of my first spin and I can already see this as a serious contender for AotY. As I said, it feels like a mesh-up of Emptiness's desolate, moody sound and slowed-down DsO's dissonance. As it turns,it is also mastered in the same studio that Emptiness did NbtH, so it is no wonder that the overall atmosphere has massive emptiness vibes.

This is good. I don't find it particularly dissonant though. It's moody in atmosphere but has a certain melodic melancholy as well.

The depressive sorrowful atmosphera is brilliantly done here. This genre (whatever it is) isn't exactly my thing but I enjoyed.

It has a great sound, the tone is very dark and heavy, and I like the vocals too, but I find the songwriting a wee bit boring, and it kind of plods on in parts for too long imo.
