Not very original album title, but "Evangelion" was really decent piece of death metal, so this one may be interesting too.

Really looking forward to it, Behemoth is awesome... though the title reminds me of Fear Factory's The Industrialist ... makes for a bold title (but funny).

even Sabbath actually had nothing to do with satanism just like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest had nothing to do with it. Mmmm, looking at the Guy's favourite bands, almost none have anything to do with satanism

Even Blue Cheer, the band that many consider to be the FIRST heavy metal band, had nothing to do with satanism.
In fact, if memory serves me correctly, satanism didn't really get introduced into heavy metal until the early 80s (over a decade after the beginning of heavy metal, which started in the late 60s to early 70s), with the advent of more extreme metal bands like Venom, Hellhammer, and Slayer.

Who themselves were never satanists, just used that imagery as shock value .
I think the amount of metal bands who were truly satanic is actually quite minimal even within the early BM scene.

Yup, and yup.
Most of these so-called "Satanic" bands are just about shock value, they're actually just atheists who target Christianity because it's one of the largest, easiest and most widespread religions to target and attack. Not to mention they'll get a lot less flack by targeting Christianity, than by targeting Judaism, Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism; not that it would really make much sense to vehemently attack Hindus or Buddhists.

Satanism and music go hand in hand. All the way back to Nicolo Paginini and in the Dark Ages with the "evil" tritone *gasps*.

That may or may not be true, but I never said that Satanism didn't get introduced into music until the 80s, I said that it didn't really get introduced into heavy metal until the 80s.

Just read what Karl Sanders says on this matter in the liner notes for the song "Kafir".

The title itself may be unique, but the story of Gabriel's Horn is fairly well-known amongst those who've read the Bible.
I'm assuming the EP title is mocking the return of Christ? Or maybe it's a metaphor for the return of the Lord within himself as he overcame his battle with cancer.

I don't know it and I spent like 6 years of my life in a catholic school. D: The only Gabriel's Horn I know is a geometric figure (a very interesting one at that btw).
Edit: Oh, I guess you mean the whole "dude blows the trumpets to announce judgement day"... Unless there's something else I missed.

Nah that was what I was referring to. Nergal appears to be somewhat of an eccentric person and artistically inclined based on some of these Behemoth videos as well as concepts "discussed" within the lyrics, so it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't as simple as Gabriel blowing his horn. In an interview with Loudwire he talks about cancer being an inspiration and how it changed him as a person, so I'm assuming all of this new material relates in ways to individual strength, which can be interpreted as a form of Satanism - hence, The Satanist, at least.

i just noticed the durations of the new songs so now i just have the same bad feeling.
behemoth wrote a bit longer songs on evangelion and i guess this was one of the main reasons that it was a bit boring. now i see that they wrote even longer songs so thats not good news..

Samples, 30 seconds of each song.
Sounds a bit like Evangelion, I think... but who knows. Still curious to listen to it.

It just seems really uninspired. Going with the one-word title them I would have considered something like Eidolon, Liturgy, Heresy, etc. The Satanist is just super bland.
