Biography

The story of Firespawn began in 2012 when Swedish death metal veterans L-G Petrov (Entombed A.D.), Alex Impaler (Necrophobic), and Victor Brandt (Entombed A.D.), all driven by a hunger for aggressive death metal, decided to form a new band.

As easy as it was to form the band, the more difficult task was to find an appropriate name that described this new born firestorm. After long discussions and at least a hundred different names, they came up with Firespawn.

Weeks before the release of the first single Lucifer Has Spoken, Firespawn posted a short but strong slogan on their Facebook page: "Dedication. Discipline. Death Metal." With this affirmation, L-G, Victor, Alex, Fredrik, and Matte push themselves for the best possible results from their voice and instruments. The aim is not to compete or show off. Rather, the point is to play 100% passionate death metal, support the scene, and communicate only through the power of music.

For this album the music is written by Victor Brandt and the lyrics are written by Alex Impaler and Victor Brandt. After recording the first single, Lucifer Has Spoken (released on August 7th 2015), Firespawn decided to continue their successful collaboration with sound engineer and producer Lawrence Mackrory, and promptly started working on their full length album Shadow Realms. All in all it took less than a month to record the entire album. Matte was done in one week. L-G laid down the vocals for the first five songs in only one day.

All of those who expect traditional Swedish death metal will be surprised. Inspired by Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Possessed, Behemoth, and early Slayer, Firespawn demonstrate a high-class bloodbath of fast, technical, and extremely brutal death metal. Continuously driven by violence and death, surrounded by occultism and deep darkness. No suggestions. No right or wrong. It's all about atmosphere and feeling.

The artwork for the bands first single Lucifer Has Spoken was done by Italian painter Paolo Giradi, who made a name for himself with his great cover art for Manilla Road, Inquisition, In League With Satan, Black Breath, and many more. The 7" artwork for Lucifer Has Spoken shows just a part of a huge piece that will be unveiled when further news on the album is released.

Firespawn will hit the stage for the first time at Mörkaste Småland Festival at the end of September 2015. The debut album Shadow Realms will be released on November 13th 2015.
