Well, I just think that unleashing some recurring names, even if they're not "true" metal gives the scene a lot of potential to be deeply known, as many fans cross over some traditional bands through
into play. And it isn't malicious, not necessarily elitist, just a reflection of where we feel it is most rewarding to focus our energy. But I think this also matches the general character of Metal Storm as a whole.
Now, that's not to say we absolutely never ever will open the door, and I think there is some truth to the assertion that we focus less on that end of alt/nu/etc. material. That is definitely an area where our own tastes come
leads to a lot that isn't fully metal or that isn't metal at all. That's where I place those bands. They aren't metal, and frankly adding even Evanescence and Linkin Park was a pretty big step that it took many years to enact.
I'm willing to bet that if Seether and Staind haven't become relevant to the metal scene by now then they never will be. But a doom metal band or a black metal band is distinctly a metal band - the "alternative" spectrum
