Danish war merchants Panzerchrist have agreed on a new series of tactics with Listenable corps and are unleashing their new assault to this miserable world Regiment Ragnarok on April 18th. Both parties are chuffed about the new strategy.

Now with 5 critically acclaimed albums and the 6th just around the corner, 2011 will be the year Panzerchrist turns it's devastating artillery from your speakers to your face, and play live for the first time in 11 years.

The band is currently gearing up for combat, it will be the most brutal mission they will once again successfully accomplish, never mind the number of victims, victory is at hand.

Pestilence - New Custom Bass From JPT

Dutch bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling (Pestilence, Obscura) will promote the recently completed Pestilence album Doctrine with a new custom made bass guitar. This week the German bass manufacturer Warwick confirmed to support Thesseling by building a seven-string fretless version of their classic Thumb NT series that he plays exclusively since 17 years.

"In the studio we decided to record the new Doctrine material with a low F-sharp tuning on bass, but then I still needed to find a way to work it out for live performances. I'm proud of the long-term collaboration with Warwick; this masterpiece will make it sound extremely massive.", according to Jeroen. Pestilence's Doctrine will be released in April through Mascot Records. Obscura will release its new album, Omnivium, in March via Relapse Records.

Believer - New Album Update

US metallers Believer have issued the following update in regards to their forthcoming full-length album:

"We're pleased to announce that mixing and mastering for the upcoming album is complete. We decided early on in project that we wanted an outside person to mix the record so we could spend more time writing and recording. Kevin Leaman (Believer guitarist) recommended Kevin Gutierrez from Assembly Line Studios for mixing this record. Leaman had worked with Gutierrez previously and said that he was really easy to work with. From the first telephone conversation it was clear that Gutierrez understood exactly what we were looking for sonically and he seemed really interested in helping us achieve that.

We let Kevin know we wanted this album to sound very musical; not just be heavy. We wanted to use the whole frequency range and not have all the mids scooped out so that everything going on in the tunes was audible. Most importantly, we wanted to keep the dynamics. We were a little nervous about not being there physically for the mix, but we spent so much time tweaking in the sounds for tracking that we were confident he had good stuff to work with. The rough mixes we made for ourselves already sounded pretty decent.

Kevin was fast and efficient. He'd send us reference mixes as he completed each song and we'd be emailing/texting comments back and forth at all hours of the day and night. He was very responsive to our change requests and was really helpful in setting up the mastering session and communicating what we wanted to Maor Appelbaum of Maor Appelbaum Mastering.

Maor also understood what we were trying to achieve with the dynamics and the overall listening experience we wanted to create on this album.

Sonically we're extremely happy with this album and can't wait for other people to hear it. We feel like this is a really strong and unique album in the Believer catalog and it's something we're definitely proud of.

So what will you hear? As we mentioned, we focused more on the overall musicality which included more instrumental layers than we used before. The vocals were also more of a focus as we have had much feedback throughout the years, specifically to get out of the one dimensional realm. Kurt wanted the vocals to be more complimentary to the overall tune feel, so he used many facets of his vocal abilities. As with all Believer albums, this one is definitely unique."

Kampfar - New Album Details, Teaser Online

Original news, posted on 26.01.2011

Mare, the new album by Norwegian pagan black metal band Kampfar, will be released on March 25th in Europe and April 5th in North America through Napalm Records.

The album was produced by Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio.

According to the press release, Mare opens a new chapter in the Norwegians' band history, while delivering a true monument to black metal. Frontman Dolk and the rest of the band have achieved the difficult task of giving their sound new impulses without losing their unique style. Isolated keyboard passages and sprechgesang consort with icy riffs, dark melodies, and oppressive drums. Dolk's raw vocals continue to set the pace, while giving songs like "Bergtatt", Volvevers", and the title track such intensity that they are left with no other choice but to crawl under the skin of even the most discerning black and pagan metal fans.

Mare cover art] tracklist:

01. Mare
02. Ildstemmer
03. Huldreland
04. Bergtatt
05. Trolldomspakt
06. Volvevers
