Pentagram - Two Albums To Be Re-Issued

Seasons Of Mist press release:

On next November 17th (January 27th in the US), Season Of Mist will reissue two classic albums by cult doom band Pentagram: 1999's "Review Your Choices" and 2001's "Sub Basement". Doom is made out of 666 tons heavy riffing, vocals filled with pain, regret and spite as well as leaden song-structures stretched taut to the point of ripping, and Pentagram embody all those virtues like no other contender. Many have named the band the true heir of the British originators of heavy and doom metal, honourably dubbing them 'the American Black Sabbath'.

Pentagram's fourth studio album "Review Your Choices" marked the band's sixth comeback after several changes of line-up and label. These acclaimed protagonists of doom metal proved once more indestructible by drug addiction, break ups, bad deals, jail terms, chronic illness, satanic blood sacrifices and various acts of self destruction. Mainman and singer Bobby Liebling has kept his band alive for nearly 40 years now and might easily be awarded the title of "longest serving cult band" - highly acclaimed by fans, press and fellow musicians alike. "Review Your Choices" marked the return of multi-instrumentalist Joe Hasselvander to join Bobby Liebling in his eternal quest of creating the heaviest sound possible. The album features a mix of re-recorded lost Liebling tracks from the 70's and stellar numbers penned by Hasselvander, which gave "Review Your Choices" an extra heavy feeling.

"Sub-Basement" was the second output of this line-up and is regarded as the most rock n' roll effort of the doomsters ever. On top of Pentagram's perfect doom sound an irresistible groove and capturing catchiness was added, which made the album an all time favourite for many fans. "Sub-Basement" will kick your ass and twist your legs! Dive down deep into gloom and despair with these classic doom recordings, both to be reissued with bonus tracks, new artworks and liner notes.

Hanoi Rocks - Breaking Up At The End Of The Year

According to their website, Hanoi Rocks have decided to break up by the end of the year 2008. Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy feel that they've taken the band as far as it can go and now wish to go their separate ways.

All commitments until the end of the year, including the UK tour starting in London on Halloween, will naturally be honoured.

In addition, the band has decided to say farewell to their fans by doing a final tour of Japan in the spring 2009 and immediately thereafter wrapping things up with a few nights at the legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki, Finland where their career originally got started in the 80's.

November 26th will see the timely release of the first ever career-spanning Hanoi Rocks retrospective: a 2-CD set titled "This One's For Rock'n'Roll - The Best Of Hanoi Rocks 1980-2008".

Paradise Lost - "Gothic" Special Edition CD/DVD

Official press release:

Paradise Lost from West Yorkshire, UK, formed in 1988 when vocalist Nick Holmes and guitarist Gregor Mackintosh came together with the idea of taking metal beyond the conventional styles of the time. They were influenced by acts such as Candlemass, Celtic Frost and Morbid Angel, and concocted a unique atmosphere of their own as a result. This was already apparent when their debut album "Lost Paradise" appeared on Peaceville Records in 1990, and blended death metal with doom and some melodic elements, but it wasn't until their follow-up album that the metal world witnessed the birth of a new style of music.

"Gothic" was THE album responsible for a whole sub genre of metal, Gothic Doom Metal, upon its release in 1991. Creating a more melancholy & atmospheric form of doom metal, with the introduction of the distinctive & unmistakable Paradise Lost lead guitar melodies, the band was quickly propelled to the forefront of pioneering extreme metal bands of the early nineties.

The "Gothic" album was recorded in late 1990/early 1991 at the renowned Academy Studios in Yorkshire; a studio responsible for classic recordings from bands such as My Dying Bride, Anathema, Cradle Of Filth and Bal-Sagoth among many others.

Along with the album, this special edition contains a very rare video performance from a 1991 Paradise Lost show (that evening supported by My Dying Bride & Pitch Shifter) and features classic tracks from their first 2 albums.

This release also coincides with the 20 year celebration of the band, in which Paradise Lost teamed up for a handful of very special shows in September with the other leaders of the early nineties doom metal revolution, namely My Dying Bride and Anathema.

To/Die/For - Part Ways With Drummer, Replacement Announced

Finnish metallers To/Die/For have issued the following update:

"Hello.
Autumn came to Finland, and it took one sheep from To/Die/For clan within. Santtu who's been To/Die/For drummer from 2004 quit drumming in the band. There is no any kind of fight between us. He is still our lovely Friend!

Reasons?
He had no motivation enough for rehealsaling... as we saw it. Now when we are writing songs for a new album, we need to live in this for 200%. Santtu is having a lot of another things to do, and it is good for him, but time is what we need and especially motivation and rehealsaling. And there must be To/Die/For flame burning in our souls... otherwise this is not worth to do...

Anyway, our feelings at the moment is better than ever! We have a new drummer, and we are friends with Santtu. Maybe Santtu is gonna be our drum tech. On some shows so... he may be travelling with us anyway.

We've been rehearsing with new great drummer a couple of times, and believe me, it works as motherfuck! So you wanna know who is this beast? He is new family member called: Toni Paananen. He will rock you all"

Impaled Nazarene - Taking A Break

Finnish metallers Impaled Nazarene have issued the following update:

"After the successful spring/summer/fall gigs of 2008 around the world the band is now taking some time off from full activity. This simply means composing new material for the somewhere-in-future-to-be-released next album, taking care of other (earthly) businesses and charging of the "armageddon batteries" overall.
We've been planning to start the next album recordings around the spring/summertime of 2009, but we have also decided to not to be in anykind of hurry with that matter. It's a totally "when we feel like" situation at the moment. There might be some one-off gigs done here and there during the wintertime, but more of those later. . .
So the answer to the question (at our website) "Are we dead" (referring to the long web-silence) is: "You wish..."

We will add new photomaterial from the last summer to the webpage soon, we will keep you updated when there's something to be told and we are checking the messageboard (forum, CampNazarene) on daily basis, that's the quickest way to reach us and to get answered for the questions.

Cheers with beers and 6 6 6,
ArcBasstard"
