Manticora - New Album Details, European Tour Dates

Longstanding Danish metal band Manticora have completed the recordings of their 7th full length album, Safe, at Jailhouse Studios. Once again the album was produced and mixed under the guiding hands of Tommy Hansen (known for Jorn, Helloween, Pretty Maids).

Following the successful two-part Black Circus albums (released in 2006 and 2007 on now defunct Locomotive Music), Safe will see the band exploring a darker and heavier side of their songwriting than in recent years, and contrary to the simplicity of the album cover (a black/white cover only showcasing the band-symbol) Safe is filled with high-octane technical power-thrash.

Safe tracklist:

01. In The Abyss Of Desperation
02. Silence The Freedom
03. Complete
04. From The Pain Of Loss (I Learned About The Truth)
05. A Lake That Drained
06. Carrion Eaters
07. Safe
08. Embryonic Man

Upon renewing their deal for Japan with Stay Gold/Art Union Records for the release of the album, Manticora have signed with US based label Nightmare Records for the rest of the World. The releases in Europe and North America have been set for September 20th and 21st respectively.

In the same month, Manticora will embark on a headliner tour, presented by Rock Hard Magazine, throughout Europe. Support on the tour will come from Norwegian power/prog band Divided Multitude. The dates confirmed so far (more to follow):

Sep. 24 - Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany
Sep. 25 - Turock, Essen, Germany
Oct. 01 - Bastard Club, Osnabrueck, Germany
Oct. 02 - The Rock Temple, Kerkrade, Holland
Oct. 03 - De Pul, Uden, Holland
Oct. 04 - Nouveau Casino, Paris, France
Oct. 08 - EventStage, Zizers, Switzerland
Oct. 09 - Mephisto Club, Alessandria, Italy
Oct. 11 - Spinnerei, Traun, Austria
Oct. 12 - Reigen, Wien, Austria
Oct. 13 - Randal Club, Bratislava, Slovakia
Oct. 14 - Crazy Mama, Budapest, Hungary

Goat The Head - Sign To Aftermath Music

Norwegian death metallers Goat The Head have signed to Aftermath Music.

The band's upcoming effort Doppelgängers, the follow-up to 2007's Simian Supremacy, is slated for a September release. More album details here.

Doppelgängers was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen and "boasts 10 furious tracks exerting about every colour of the metal palette." One of the new tracks "Neolithic Rocket Science" is streaming on the band's MySpace.

Fatal Smile - Part Ways With Drummer

Swedish hard-rockers Fatal Smile are searching for a drummer in the Stockholm area that has what it takes and who's 110% dedicated to Rock'n Roll - ready to tour the world.

The band has made the following statement: "Due to Zteff's personal situation he is not able to dedicate his life to the craziness of a touring band anymore. We have spent three glorious years together, months at a time in a bus, shared thousands of miles, beers and many gallons of booze. He has never missed a beat or a gig and will be greatly missed by all in Fatal camp!

So, now we're looking for a new member of this mayhem we call our band. These are not easy boots to fill: the guy we're looking for is a hungry, ambitious and crazy hard-hitter with the attitude and presence of a Fatal Smile, who enjoys spending his time on the road, in a bar and behind the drums - our drums. The one who helps find this monster will be honored with a finder's fee: his first interview as a Fatal Smile."

Primordial - In Search For A Drummer

Primordial are looking for a drummer. Here's the statement the band issued yesterday:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control we are now left in a position to advertise for a drummer. We need someone who is determined, committed to their craft, stepping up to the plate of touring and playing big festivals. Previous experience would of course be preferable. No half measures, no glass is half empty attitudes. Someone who will bring their style and energy to the band and of course a fucking killer drummer. Nothing less.

There is a new album in the offing, the possibility of standing on the stages of some of the biggest metal festivals in 2011 and of course some form of income from those...

It's preferable they know extreme metal of course, that's where we came from, but more importantly, the Maidens, Sabbaths, Motorheads and Thin Lizzys of this world as that's where the drumming in Primordial has for the most part been holding court... Samples available here.

We rehearse in Dublin of course so a proximity to there is preferable but we are not adverse to someone from abroad who can work hard when the time comes and is near enough to a Ryan Air terminal, or a relocation to Dublin is also a possibility..."

Contact the band if you are interested.

Decrepit Birth - New Abum Artwork Revealed

In case you haven't heard, the new album of Decrepit Birth, Polarity, is set for release late next month. The band have unveiled the album art to their latest offering available at this location. The artwork was completed by cult artist Dan Seagrave (Morbid Angel, Entombed, Suffocation, etc.)

Guitarist Matt Sotelo explained the meaning behind the cover: "Dan's art fits the overall theme of the album perfectly. We had approached Dan with some ideas at a show of ours he attended. It was really cool to finally meet Dan in person and get the chance to explain to him some of our song themes as well as ideas for the new album cover. We could tell that he was excited to help us on this one! The cover depicts images of ancient energies and balance, which is something that is personal for us, and perfectly reflects our abstract lyrical and musical style. Dan's art is so unmistakable!"

Artist Dan Seagrave offered an even more in depth reasoning behind his artistic interpretation: "It is the vision of a transcendental nightmare. where the perception of technological power has gone beyond the will of the author. In the slumbering cohesive minds of the human race, and the absence of communicative truth between people, their social masks become their Sarcophagi. A telepathic cult is formed that fells the earth, reducing it to an atomic level. Its information trapped in mirrored shards. Through this energy, distant echos of images are glimpsed, particles reform, and a new chronozone period is born, set adrift at a dawnless epoch."

Witchery - Another New Song Online

Witchery are proud to present another new track of the upcoming album Witchkrieg that will be released by Century Media Records on June 21st in Europe and June 29th in North America. "From Dead To Worse" featuring a guest-solo from Andy LaRoque of King Diamond fame can be heard on the band's MySpace page.

Guitarist Jensen: "Andy was an old friend of the band since he recorded the Witchburner EP (back in 1999). I think all musicians would at some point like to play with other musicians that they respect. Like with jazz, the constellations of musicians are always changing, but with metal its a lot more rigid. Having people do guest-solos is the closest way of collaborating in metal."

Other guest guitarists on the album are Gary Holt & Lee Altus (Exodus), Hank Shermann (Mercyful Fate), Jim Durkin (Dark Angel) and Kerry King(Slayer.
