Iced Earth - New Album Update

IcedEarth.com has posted the cover art Link] for the band's forthcoming full-length studio album, "The Crucible Of Man (Something Wicked Part II)" which continues where their 2007 release, "Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Part I)" left off. "The Crucible Of Man" features the return of frontman Matt Barlow who was Schaffer's original voice of choice to introduce the "Something Wicked" saga back in 1998 as a trio of songs which concluded their album, "Something Wicked This Way Comes".

While the 1998 album provided a general overview of the story Schaffer has been conceptualizing for well over a decade, the saga is being fully brought to life with the release of the back-to-back conceptual albums "Framing Armageddon" and "The Crucible of Man". While both albums provide answers to mysteries the previous releases would create, the timeliness of the story in today's world is guaranteed to keep people thinking and guessing. Schaffer's ability to convey the central themes and events of the story without always revealing exactly "why" characters' decisions are made and "how" events come to pass, will keep fans of the saga coming back as future mediums for the "Something Wicked" storyline are revealed.

A finalized tracklisting for "The Crucible Of Man" and audio interview with Jon Schaffer covering the new material will be featured at IcedEarth.com later this month. The band will begin rehearsals next week for a run of dates in June as direct support for Judas Priest in Europe (dates here), as well as the Hellfest, Bang Your Head, Graspop, and Gods Of Metal European festivals.

"The Crucible Of Man" is due for a late August or early September release on Steamhammer/SPV. The release will then be followed by a North American tour that kicks-off in September and features an appearance as headliner for the ProgPower USA IX festival in Atlanta, Georgia on September 27. The North American dates will be announced at IcedEarth.com when they are confirmed.

The single from the new album is titled, "I Walk Among You" and is being released worldwide this week by Steamhammer/SPV and features the new track, "I Walk Alone, " as well as three additional songs from "Framing Armageddon" with new vocal performances by Matt Barlow. All tracks can be listened to in their entirety at both the band's official website and MySpace page with exception of the track, "A Charge To Keep" which is an iTunes exclusive.

Arsis - Replace Drummer

US metallers Arsis have issued the following update:

"Although we had a great run over the past year and a half with drummer Darren Cesca , we have decided to stop working with him in Arsis. The reasoning behind this decision is simply differences in personalities and an overall difference in direction. Darren is an amazing musician and we harbor no ill feelings towards him. We wish him all the best. We are most excited to announce that Alex Tomlin, a long time friend of ours and an outstanding drummer, will be replacing Darren. His first shows with us will be on the "In Thrash We Trust" tour starting this Wednesday. Come out and support Arsis and the new addition to our line-up!"

Anubis Gate - Enter The Studio In July

Danish metallers Anubis Gate have issued the following update:

"This summer will indeed be far from inactive in the Anubis Gate camp! We will start recording the drums at Hansen Studios early July, and after the drums have been tracked, guitars, keyboards and bass will be recorded at Kim Olesen's studio.

Jacob Hansen's vocals will be done at Hansen Studios, and Henrik Fevre's vocals + backing will be done at his own studio. The mix will be done mid August at Hansen Studios.

Locomotive will release the album February 2009.

All the songs have been written and lyrics are being completed as we write this.

We feel very strong about the new songs, that very much are following the lines of Andromeda Unchained, although with a twist. There's a feeling that some of the newer songs will be heavier, leaning a bit towards the hard riffage from "A Perfect Forever", as well as there are some new elements and surpising twists to the Anubis Gate sound. Every one of us is anxious to get started!

Stay tuned for a detailed studio report starting the 30th of June!"

Kreator - Enter The Studio In July

German metallers Kreator have issued the following update:

"Kreator will enter the Titonus studios in Berlin on July 20th to record the highly anticipated follow up to their 2005 release "Enemy Of God".

For the yet untitled album the band will be working with German top producer Moses Schneider.

"The pre-production in our rehearsal studios went really smooth" says bandleader Mille Petrozza. "Moses´s way of working with bands takes place more on an emotional then on a technical level, wich means the album will sound very raw and direct. We´re trying to capture Kreator´s live energy and will be using nice vintage analogue equipment for the recordings this time. Expect a massacre!"

The release date for the album, which will be mixed by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, etc) in London, will be January 2009, followed by an extensive world tour. Stay tuned for more details, a complete re launch of the Terrorzone and studio reports soon!"

So, Fabio Lione, will be on stage with Vision Divine starting from June 20 and he's already working to our new album, which recordings are scheduled starting from Aug 11th. We know that each time this band has a change of line up there many roumors about it and mostly people could think if its' right decision or something like that... But as always we will let facts talk, and our band life gets proof that we allways try to take best decision to grow up as artists and as persons. Ihsahn - E-Card Online

An e-card for Ihsahn's forthcoming album, entitled "AngL", can be accessed at this location.

According to a Candlelight Records press release:

"Ihsahn's second solo album "AngL" is a continuation of the former Emperor frontman's work within the Metal genre.

Following on from his debut solo album "The Adversary", this second opus builds on the experience Ihsahn has gained as a solo artist and presents a complex and enticing tapestry: blending textures of light and dark together into an album that is at once challenging and accessible; captivating and intensely moving. Musically this album can be seen as a natural progression from "The Adversary", but with a somewhat heavier touch - incorporating the subtleties of expression explored on his debut into a more recognisably 'extreme' framework.

Drums on the album are once again handled by Asgeir Mickelson (Borknagar, Spiral Architect, Hardingrock) with bass duties taken over by Asgeir's Spiral Architect colleague Lars Norberg. The track 'Unhealer' features the much anticipated collaboration of two Metal masterminds with Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt performing lead vocals.

Lyrically "AngL" deals with many personal themes, with a deep Nietzschean thread, and the intensity and richness of the album's nine epic tracks ensure that it presents much to enthral fans of all aspects of Ihsahn's music.

With "AngL" Ihsahn has presented a true statement of what he is capable of as a solo artist!"

"AngL" will be out on May 27th via Mnemosyne Productions/Candlelight Records.
