This already looks exactly like all of their other albums. :/

Time to give them a 6th chance at delivering a good album.
I would have given up after three.

Lol what did you expect?
I probably won't bother checking this out. I've heard all of their other albums, but that was back when I enjoyed bland, cookie-cutter melodic death, so I think I can find better uses of my time.

...Which is the band's biggest downfall since their first album. In fact, I even think every song sounds the same, within each album. They have written the same great song 60 times whoohoo!

Perhaps the same formula, but I can easily pick out the superior tracks. Writing a melody that stands out isn't easy in such a saturated sub-genre.

Written by deadone on 12.03.2014 at 00:43 Hey so they're just like Amon Amarth, Arsis, Belakor and the rest of Melodic Death Metal land these days.
It sure seems that way, although I wouldn't lump Arsis in with that group. Unfortunately the way the genre seems to have "evolved" means all we're left with are bands trying to emulate the success of the heavyweights rather than trying to branch out and achieve a unique or at least somewhat innovative style. Some of the Swedish bands are doing their own thing (Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork) for better or for worse, but the rest seem content to borrow heavily from the keyboard-dominated Finnish sound.

Belakor are still delivering good crafted Melodeath imo, and this is coming from someone who have given up entirely on the genre.

My thoughts exactly - even if that kind of contradicts what I was saying about the Finnish style earlier.

They're doing it the same but kind of different too, their melodies are infectious and the progressive edge is probably what separates them from the rest of the Finnish gang

Their new Revelation song has me excited, with a touch of 'Weeping World' in it, though I'm hoping to hear more of Vanhala's influence.
Insomnium has never let me down before, and I don't think they will with this one

The album has leaked. Quite an interesting contrast between "Black Heart Rebellion" and "Lose to Night"; the former is a brutal, Dissection-ish outing while the latter is hardly melodeath.

I think it's better than last album but it's boring also... only touch of Omnium Gatherum made Insmonium a little listenable on this album, any way I was a fan of insomnium till one for sorrow was came out... this album seems a little better than last.

I dig it, and yes this sounds like worn territory, but I personally don't need to hear a fully original piece of melodeath to enjoy it. The production quality is definitely better than their last one as well.

These days I started to say that I'm a fan of this or that Album I can't be a fan of the band, that i don't like 1 or 2 albums of them at all... I think, I can say I'm a fan of this band or that band only when I like whole releases of them.

First thoughts:
Much better than the last album! But, still not as great as their first three releases. Perhaps on par with Across the Dark.
It definitely has more stand out melodies/tracks than the last album but still can't totally shake the feeling of being recycled and somewhat boring.
Also sometimes has the feeling like they are trying to add poppy sections but at the same time don't want to abandon their established style which just makes for an awkward sound, the title song chorus is the perfect example of this. Would have been nice if they just fully embraced this new sound and gave us something really different rather than trying to awkwardly straddle both sides of the fence only to ultimately play it safe.
Highlights: Primeval Dark, While We Sleep & Black Heart Rebellion.

This album bored me quite a bit. Like many albums this year, I don't get the hype.
Maybe it's a grower. For the record: I did really like the debut and Above The Weeping World, even though (especially) the latter is pretty overrated. In fact, I'd call this whole band overrated, but it could be me (not being into melodic death a whole lot).
