Every folk metal band by now has either fallen off, had a lukewarm phase, or they were never that big in the first place. Finntroll endured.

I was on Finntroll marathon for 2 days consecutively digging from debut all the way down to "Blodsvept", and to my surprise, I found remarkably different aura of each record. Now knowing all FT records more closely, I'm definitely looking forward to a new direction.

This LP is a reminiscence of their first two albums, with some more melodic parts from their later era. In 2020 this is how an old school Finntroll LP should sound!

I'm surprised how old school Finntroll this sounds considering how long it's been since Blodsvept!

After many listens, I can confidently say that this album is among their very best. From the riffs and keyboards to the vocals (which are Vreth's best ever) to the ebb and flow of the album itself, it's all excellent. Grenars Väg is a personal favorite of mine, and one of the most enjoyable folk metal tunes I've heard in recent years. Welcome back, gentlemen...you have been missed!

Holy shit, how they reminded us all that we really need a new Finntroll every now and then. I agree with many previous voices, a throwback to their earlier sense of melody with a modern twist. Seriously awesome!

IMO their best! They keep extreme folk metal roots, but IMO it has strong melo bm influence, they try put that genre sound into efm and it worked out. bnand tried new and keep roots alive, did not wandered far in new sound. Good work.

Finntroll has always been great, but this was still a surprise. By far one of their better albums. Loved every second of it.

Damn I just love this album pretty much every song is a banger. A mix of the best Jaktens Tid, Nattfödd and Nifelvind had to offer in terms of song progression, instruments, melodies and speed.
I could elaborate further but is it really necessary?

Complete agree with the comments above me. This album is fantastic, must been their best since "Nattfödd" I think. Song writing reminded me a lot of old albums in general. A big surprise for sure!

Others have said it better elsewhere, but it does feel like the best parts of Nattfod Jaktens Tid and Nifelvind with an extra bit of oomph that still makes the new Finntroll album sound fresh and exciting. Currently on my 4th listen in as many days! Definitely worth the wait!
Best tracks: Grenars Vag, Vid Haxans Hard, Ormfolk

Finntroll was arguably the first "metal" band I listened to and I've gone back through their discography countless times since then, however Vredesvävd didn't do very much for me at first. It is growing on me the more I listen to it, but this album is mostly paced to be one charging breakneck rush and I found myself missing the wider variety of past albums. A lot of the folk elements are pretty forgettable too alsongside the far superior guitar work.

There is a lot to like here though. Many people were calling this Jaktens Tid 2.0 but it reminded me much more of Midnattens Widunder in terms of writing, pacing, and overall tone. Vredesvävd has an excellent blend of their old sound presented with their more modern execution. The vocals are way better than they were on Blodsvept... and actually, so is everything else. It's not their best album but it's a welcome return.

Standout tracks for me were:
Att Döda Med En Sten, Vid Häxans Härd, Myren, Stjärnors Mjöd, and Ylaren.

Love it when bands make albums like the ones that made them stand out, even if this sacrifices originality. This is such an occasion with "Vredesvävd" having so many similarities with the first two releases. Really enjoyed it.

Never really been the biggest fan of the genre, but Vredesvävd is definitely a great album. I really enjoy the brutality and tempo. The songs are generally short and they don't waste necessary time, they get to the point. 'Ormfolk' and 'Gränars Väg' are the highlights, but there is no real letdown on this album.

I think Vredesvävd is more "adult" and serious than previous albums. I hope they continue on this path for the future.

I find it interesting to see many people who have a problem with folk metal still liking Finntroll .. I can't really put my finger on why... anyway, great record, although I prefer the more experimental atmosphere of Blodsvept or darkness of Jaktens Tid

It's not that I dislike folk metal and Finntroll is definitely a great band. I must admit that Vredesvävd has been a gateway to listen to more and more folk metal. Subsequently, I also really got into Jaktens Tid, but I still have a preference to Vredesvävd. I guess that Finntroll has have a great vibe and atmosphere, that is really cool.
