Final album huh? I know some people are cheering for that. I'll say this as a gateway band for me in high school they were fun. My interest died down of them over the years but I still like some of their stuff. I didn't like When Legends Rise the sound got too radio for me even for Godsmack. I can't say I'll enjoy this but I'm open enough to be surprised. The three old school Nu Metal/butt rock trio Godsmack Disturbed and Slipknot heck even Drowning Pool are pretty disappointing but was never shocking to me that it is. lol

They were the first band that got me in to heavier music, so sad to hear this is their final album! Although I haven't really listened to them since about 2007/2008.

I can't say I'll miss this band. I Stand Alone is still a great song but nothing else has ever impressed me. Unfortunately this last album doesn't change that. It's boring and lyrics are pretty simple for my taste.

Ok not the worst thing only one song really pissed me off and that was Red White and Blue. Man that one was cookie cutter. I mean I know that's what everybody thinks of their music but that ones really cookie cutter.

Godsmack will always hold a special place in my heart. They are one of the first few band that got me out of my young metal elitist mindset. Godsmack, Awake and Faceless will always be amongst my favourite alternative records. I wish I enjoyed the rest of their albums but whatever they had that made them special, it was gone after their 3rd album. I think it's typical with most bands so I don't hold it against them by calling them sellouts or any of the usual stupid shit.

Sad that they were a one time wonder. I stand alone was my one of my all time favorite song. Never recreated anything near to that. Adios amigos..

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

In 1998,Godsmack released their self-titled album, and it was at that point I discovered my very first "favorite band." As a wee lad of only 6 years old, I instantly fell in love with the enchanting song, "Voodoo." I was captivated by their music and would blissfully immerse myself in their music listening to their albums on repeat while playing N64 or riding the bus to school, or even to help me fall asleep.

As 2006 arrived, the release of their album "IV" marked a turning point for me. Unfortunately, I found myself gradually losing the fervor I once had for their music. To put it another way, IV was painfully MID. As is most of their music after this point. While Godsmack will always hold a special place in my heart, and it does sadden me to realize that this will be their final album, ultimately, I believe that's okay. Since 2006, their discography has failed to truly capture my attention, apart from a few scattered songs here and there. The same holds true for this latest album. While tracks like "Best of Times," "Truth" and "Soul on Fire" were enjoyable, "Red White & Blue" left me straight up cringing. Overall, this album was OK but, it ended up being just another Godsmack album that I wanted to love, but couldn't.

First song that got me into Godsmack was Awake I also heard Straight Out of Line in a Commercial. I'd say they were my first favorite band at the time as well. I honestly liked IV not as much as Awake or Faceless but I still loved it. Some songs were a bit over played like Speak. I'd say after 1000hp I knew they would go the more radio rock style, and when they got to When Legends Rise I wasn't surprised. Just like you they still have a special place in my heart, but yea they pretty much died off as my main fav and is just a band were I listen to them every now and then.

Not a bad album, but not going to be particularly memorable if I have to be very honest. There's a few fairly decent tunes here, but their mostly just are average one's. I've not got a problem with how soft it is though, it's more to do with the songwriting.
