I bought Iron Maiden's newest cd used in fear that I wouldn't like it. It even took some further contemplation of whether I was going to lay down $4.99 for it. (Yes, I am picky and cheap.) Anyway, all my doubts and fears were destroyed after one listen to this album.

It may not be the exact same Maiden you're used to - some of it is a bit slower, but incredibly artistic. Bruce's voice is as fine-tuned as ever, and you just can't go wrong with three good guitarists. The sound is very melodic, as usual, and very easily gets stuck in your head. I've had "Blood Brothers" in my head for almost three months now. Most of the songs clock in over six minutes, and the entire cd is over an hour long. With Iron Maiden especially, the more the better. And the songs definitely do not disappoint, that is, unless you're one of the strict "new sucks, I only like their older music" type people.

Surely one of the band's better albums. This could be better yet if wasn't so long; the 2nd half could lose a couple of songs (#7 and #8).

This album gets really close to perfection imo. The whole album is full of beautiful songs. Personally, it's my 2nd favourite IM album. It's the true essence of what makes heavy metal so great.

Yeah I can understand that, you are definitely not the only one who finds The Nomad to be too long. Personally, I love that song but then again I kinda like the longer Iron Maiden songs.

If it wasn't for the last two tracks, I'd easily give this a 10. One of the band's best works.

It feels almost on the verge of being a concept album, blazing out a new sound that built on the old Iron Maiden whilst doing something much more solid and artistic. Some of the weaker tracks here are merelt 'good' - not a single one is a waste of your time

A very strong album from Maiden with a crystal clear production and progressive song structure, that never feels unwelcome. It contains some of Maiden's best songs like Ghost of the Navigator, Brave New World, Dream of Mirrors and The Thin Li Between Lova and Hate. Unfortunately it also have some songs that are a little repetitive and somewhat overrated like Blood Brothers, The Wicker and Out of the Silent Planet. But even they are pretty solid. The only ones that really feel like fillers are The Mercenary and The Fallen Angel, but they are also still passable. So overall a very strong album, with few flaws, which highs are as high as Maiden gets.

I don't see any drop off in quality with the last 3 songs.

The second half of "The Thin Line Between Love & Hate" is one of my favourite parts in the catalogue.

Better than Piece of Mind and Somewhere In Time, but not as strong as Number of the Beast, Powerslave or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son IMO.

For me this is something of a summer music. I remember stumbling upon this album on a summer vacation and constantly listening to it while going to work and vice versa. One could say it's too lengthy, but then again there just cannot be too much Iron Maiden in this world.

Going back through all of Iron Maiden's releases, the band was just sort of drifting aimlessly along through the 90s but it gave Bruce and Adrian some time to recover and feel rejuvenated for when they eventually decided to return to the band, giving it a new lease on life and heralding the return to form that fans had been waiting for. If the 80s albums were like the classical Greco-Roman period, and the 90s albums were like the Dark Ages, then this is Iron Maiden's Renaissance.

This has some of their most inspired songwriting since the 1980s and has tracks that have become beloved classics in their own right like the title track, Ghost of the Navigator, Blood Brothers and The Wicker Man. There also several underrated gems like The Mercenary, The Nomad, Dream of Mirrors, and The Thin Line Between Love and Hate. It's the first album since Seventh Son that I feel has no weak songs on it and the 67 minute runtime does not feel long at all, the pacing is obviously very strong throughout and I'm invested from beginning to end. However like Seventh Son with Can I Play With Madness, there is The Wicker Man on here which I don't think is quite as strong as everything else even though it's still a good song and a great opener.

After a stale, mediocre decade in the 90s, Brave New World started the new millennium off with a bang and it still holds up two decades later as one of their best albums today.

To me this is the last truly strong Iron Maiden album to date. While not as creative as in their prime (or even in the Blaze era), the album is very tasteful and consistent. The production is top notch, the band sounds good, the band sounds the most energetic they have been since SSOASS. None of the songs are bad, though The Nomad and Out of the Silent Planet are weaker. Several of the songs would probably benefit from being shorter, but they all have a lot of good stuff in them.
Highlights are The Wicker Man, Ghost of the Navigator, The Mercenary, Fallen Angel and The Thin Line Between Love and Hate.

I'm just started to listen Metal when this album came out, so maybe it's just nostalgic feelings, but I love this one more than classics like Piece Of Mind and Powerslave, still not my favorite though. "Blood Brothers", "The Wicker Man", the title track and especially "Out Of The Silent Planet" is so, SO GOOD!

It's probably nostalgia haha. As much as I think this is a great album, it has nothing on Piece Of Mind and Powerslave. Also I agree with your picks, those are also my favourite tracks, a little nudge to "Ghost Of The Navigator" and "Brave New World" too!

Yeah, I got "Brave New World" as a "the title track" in my top 4 and "Ghost Of The Navigator" is a fine song, sure, just outside the top 4 together with "The Fallen Angel". As far as classic albums - need to re-listen them, my favorite always was Somewhere In Time, but it was a long time since I've listened to 80s Maiden.

For me, The Brave New World came like a welcome showers after 2 horrific releases since acclaimed release of Fear of the Dark. I never got the charm of BNW, except few tracks sounds "good" enough. But since then, Iron Maiden have released moderately adequate albums up to now.

I can imagine how excited I would have been about Bruce coming back if I had followed the band in my childhood. I heard a lot of Maiden because my dad listen it but I wasn't into metal then.

The Wicker Man is perfect song to start the album and Ghost Of The Navigator is also very good. Brave New World and Blood Brothers on the other hand have too much repetition of the song name but otherwise not bad songs. The Mercenary is a good but Dream Of Mirrors is probably my favorite. So catchy!

The rest is also good but there is nothing too special after Mirrors. A bit of a let down closing song when Maiden usually have such a great ones in the end of their albums.
