Well this is a fantastic game that i really enjoy playing, this thread is to discuss the game, no comments about how Morrowind is better etc, see it everywhere and i dont care.

I FINALLY cured vampirism, took a week because i had to collect 40 flowers just to clear my name from the Mages Guild. Then talk to the head guy.

It's sucha horribly repetitive game. I played as a fighter, doing the main qust an dthe ifghters guild. Allt he mission were 'go into a cave and kill 20 ogres' or 'go into a oblivion and reacht he top ofa tower' it was almsot all hack and slash bullshit with aobut 2 different moves. The areas and monsters failed to get more impressive as the game progresse,d at the beggining I was fighting demons, towards the end i was stillb eing mauled by cougars. It has alot of good ideas but overall it's a big disapointment, I would rather have a dynamic and intelligent RPG like Baldur's Gate II

Oblivion is a really great game. I started to play some months ago, but I stopped last month to gain time to play other games, but I intend to finish it. I'm an Argonian at level 29 now, and I can say I've done at least 70% of the side-quest of the game (fighters, mages and thieves guild, dark brotherhood, the cities quests, shrines, and all that), I'm leaving the story main quests for last (only closed one Oblivion Gate yet). Well.. I confess the game, at some point, starts to be a little boring, but I think the quests are really creative. It's not just "go there and kill it"; "guard me from those goblins" or "bring me this or that" it has some creativity and sometimes it's funny (like the shrine quest you get everyone naked lol). Overall it deserves at least some attention: the story is good, it's creative and motivating, the gameplay skills and magic are great too, not to mention the best graphic I've laid my eyes on!

how did I not see this thread???

hahaha.. I got Oblivion quite a while ago now and had lots of fun playing with it
I started with a character and kept the same guy all the way through to the end..
I had an Argonian that was super good at sneak and them sorts of skills..

I got Umbra as well but I think it kinda spolied the game because it was the strongest sword on there barring enchanted weapons..
but still, I finished the main line quest and just stopped playing it..
I may start on it again some time..

Yeh true, but its annoying not having the Umbra. Still takes age to kill enemies.

I did that too, im only playing it again because i have no new games.

Argonians are one of the worst races though, sneak is easy to get high and the water walking or breathing ability is available though enchanted items. I still think the Wood and Dark Elves are the best. Its hard to get good with magic, so i find Elves are more important than the others, Blade, Security and Sneak you use alot anyway, so they get high.

well I just picked an Argonian because they look.. more appealing then the other races.. hahaha
I didnt want to faff around with a guy making his face at the begining.. plus I like lizards

towards the end of the game I didnt use Umbra as my main weapon, I used a really really powerful dagger called the Crimson Eviscerator that damaged health 35 points every time it hit someone.. and it being a dagger, it swung really really really fast - so I could kill things way way faster then Umbra - its just it was annoying re-charging it all the time and its reach not being so long..

I got this game about last month for free, hmm I wonder how lol. Anyways I didn't have the right specs for it, and this error kept coming up because SP2 didnt have DX9. Stupid errors, but yea I want to get a new video card so I can play it.

Does this game have online play?

I put over 400 hours into Oblivion. But finally at the end after closing about 20 Oblivion gates it got to be repetitive and boring - I knew there were around 70-75 gates to close but god did it get monotonous - so I finished the main quest. Very good game tho.

I bought the X-Box 360 shortly after it's release just for this game. I started a game but abandonned it after a while to finish my studies, I resarted another and abandonned that to move back to England. I started it a third time a few months ago a was going very smoothly concentrating on completing every aspect of the game. However I got stuck and because I didn't have internet then, gave it a rest. I picked the game up again last week as I was bored, got the answer to my problem on the net and started flowing through the mission again. But then I turned a vault on a wall before entering a corridor, I'm locked in, no way out, and like a dick, I saved my game over the previous save just as I entered the corridor. The game has various bugs like this but after 80 hours of gaming, it's a pain to get stuck like this. I'm gonna have to start the whole thing again. Seems like some force is trying to prevent from completing this game.

Such a shame this game won't work on my steam-driven pc. i think though, from the few time i've played it, that it's not as good as Morrowind, the lack of conversation options makes it very very unrealistic, imo.

This game could be repetitive with all these Oblivion gates opened everywhere on the map. But if like me, you close a lot of them (I closed 58 of them with my Nordic warrior if I remember well), you can make a real "fight beast" with a huge amont of sigil stones and skills points. Furthermore, gates closed increase your reputation points. On the other hand, all these gates are quite similar once inside, the game can be quickly found repetitive and boring. Also this aspect of the game can artificially increase its life expectancy. So sometimes, if you find these gates boring, nothing prevents from sprinting towards the top of the tower, to get back the stone which close the door without having to give a single blow of sword . In any case, this game is a big visual slap.

Well call me boring or anything, but this is now the THIRD time around in playing it... without an expansion. Im level 17 at the moment. This time around im a Breton, which our of the the races ive been, (Wood Elf, Nord and Breton). It is the best. The magika is really high and one of their best advantages. I dont have to rely on potions and scrolls anymore haha. THAT was annoying, when you run out, your screwed, especially like the first time i played, i chose a star sign that stunted magicka replenishment as a side effect.

Im using the Arcane University more for creating spells and weapons, and well as sigil stones. I think ive closed about 10 gates, and i mainly rush through these parts.

Its only boring if you play for more than an hour straight. I only play a bit each day, along with Sims 3 and trying to hack my Wii in the process. Basically trying to avoid Uni study at all costs!

Oblivion is a great game but in my opinion it has nothing on Morrowind. There were little annoying things on Morrowind that were rectified on Oblivion such as not being fatigued by walking and also fast travel (many an hour I have spent spanning the globe of Morrowind with vauge instructions to a specific point) but put simply Morrowind is just a better game. Following the main story is quite linier and as you may have seen there is a way to finish the game in about 14 minutes I think it is, but diverting from the main story line offers such a great gaming experience. Have any of you ever played Daggerfall The Elder Scrolls II? I think I read somewhere that Daggerfall is the biggest game ever made in terms of the about of virtual land you can cover, correct me if I'm wrong.

there is a way how to kill Dagoth Ur even much faster (under 3 minutes i have seen) through "cascade potions" usage...but i was playing Morrowind several months without doing a half of "main story" and without visiting all places of the island and still wasnt bored...
