So what? The Gathering is also active with another vocalist right now. The vocalist of Fear of God has passed away and After Forever also called it quits (although Floor is still active with ReVamp and Nightwish). And Vibeke is a teacher now, so she still sings, just indeed not in the metal scene.

I have pretty high standards when it comes to metal because of all the obscure, mindfuckingly creative shit that's my preference, but that's not to say I don't enjoy and recognize the talents of some more mainstream acts too

Hahaha, that's true I guess. Same here, although I'm way less into obscure/underground metal than you. However, that doesn't mean I'm actually into mainstream stuff either... I'm kind of in between those, if that makes any sense.

well, I am, and having read somewhere that she is a vegetarian I am pretty sure MC Vise is talking about her as well, especially since she Always seems to pop up on most talented female vocalists threads.

I agree she's overrated and I also really dislike her. Not to mention she indeed looks like a tranny, being totally unattractive (due to the growling mainly, but also appearance and behaviour). Hell, she isn't even that great of a vocalist. Not being sexist here, but woman should leave the growling to men, who simply are better at it.

Then you should check out Angist, Thorr's Hammer, Acrostichon, Mythic, Derketa and those women are better at growling than most men.

Because Vibeke has only one style, her band had already enough of attention and had been mentioned several times before,but Anneke and Floor have several styles and they're much more spectacular,they're not just sopranos from a gothic female-fronted band, especially Floor and both of them still are active with different bands,Anneke was that good that featured Devin Townsend 2012 album and also she's a good songwriter and lyricist.I really can't ignore them as talented vocalists on this list although they're already overrated enough but I think they deserved it.

Whenever someone says Angela Gossow is "unique" I wanna slap the guy ! I don't dislike her but I hate when people act like she is the only woman on earth who can do growls.

And I thought of Doro too, but again I think she's not really nor underrated neither talented or special vocalist.

I meant that I was surprised that while people wondered where Tarja, etc. were, no one had moaned that she's not there.

I rate the 16yo Runhild (Thorr's Hammer) as the no.3 growler I've heard, behind Swano and Akerfeldt.

Very good list i agree with 90% of it . about battle beast i prefer their new vocalist Noora Louhimo she (in my opinion) sounds betther than Nitte Valo and two of my fave female vocalist isn't here , Kari Rueslåtten (The 3rd And The Mortal and Storm) and Ihriel .

How about Laura Ferreux from Elevenstorm? Sara Squadrani from Ancient Bards. Federica di Boni from White Skull. Marta Gabriel from Crystal Viper. They are all very talented ladies who belong on anyone's list of best female vocalists. Too bad Lzzy Hale from Halestorm isn't metal. She's more talented and has a better voice than any female metal vocalist.
