3 caveats
1. Death metal album (not just debut from band that became death metal, like Carcass)
2. Released calendar year 1999 or earlier
3. By a band with more than 1 album (1-album wonder list is elsewhere)
Yes, there are a few bands conspicuous in their absence. For whatever reason, I just never really got into them.
I don't dislike them, but I don't regard them as highly as most folks do
EDIT - I stayed away from death/thrash combo albums, more for convenience's sake. So Malleus Maleficarum, Illusions, Seven Churches, Serpent Temptation, etc are not on this list, but they'll be on the next list I make

Nice choices! Awesome to see Necrophobic in first place  Those death metal bands of the late 80s and early 90s really caught lightning in a bottle with their incredible debuts! My favorites: 1. Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence 2. Autopsy - Severed Survival 3. Entombed - Left Hand Path 4. Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Stream 5. Demigod - Slumber Of Sullen Eyes 6. Death - Scream Bloody Gore 7. Nile - Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka 8. Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness 9. Desultory - Into Eternity 10. Possessed - Seven Churches

Ok, enough of this stupidity, I'm listening to them now. EDIT - oh christ, edited...that was badass. How could I have missed out on that Side note - great call on Desultory. Into Eternity ended up being the name of a Canadian prog/tech melodeath band that had quite a few absolute badass releases. I didn't put Possessed on there because I considered them brutal/death thrash and I wanted to keep away from that for this list (Merciless, Sadus, Oppropbrium/Incubus, etc) EDIT - decided to include Possessed because fuckit, why not

Man, your criterias are hard to fit  , very hard list to make! We don't have much stuff in common but I haven't listened to everything on yours yet, I've been meaning to check the Deeds Of Flesh debut and Iniquity for a while now. Anyways, here's my top 10, I hesitated a lot in adding Brodequin's debut (released in 2000) but this is what I ended up with:1. Cynic - Focus 2. Pan.Thy.Monium - Dawn Of Dreams 3. Phlebotomized - Immense Intense Suspense 4. Supuration - The Cube 5. Disgorge (MEX) - Chronic Corpora Infest 6. Septic Flesh - Mystic Places of Dawn 7. Skinless - Progression Towards Evil 8. Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh 9. Mangled Torsos - Drawings of the Dead 10. Intestine Baalism - An Anatomy Of The Beast

Great call out on Skinless, forgot their debut was pre-2000. Trample the Weak is one of my favorite BDM albums of all time
