1001 Metal Albums You Must Hear Before You Die Welcome to what I consider the "1001 Metal Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" or in other words, a list of records of various genres in the arrays of Metal and Hard Rock that I deem essential or at least very recommended to listeners of hard and heavy music. This may be a very overwhelming list but I essentially try to collect all albums in the History of Metal that strike me as worthwhile. May this be a guideline for people that seek for an entrance to a particular genre or certain bands. In no means I am saying, that this list is indisputable by any means. I consider these my personal picks for albums that should be listened to by die-hard metal fans at least once. Hopefully you can discover some new music or relate with my picks. If I missed something that you would include in such a list, please tell me in the form of a comment. Enjoy! \,,/

Top 200 Overrated Albums **Trigger warning**
Albums and EPs rated 8.6+ from 100+ votes which I've given an 8 or lower to. I've listened to and rated every album on MS that meets this criteria (at time of most recent update) - some of them multiple times - so I feel I can give my honest opinion. The purpose of this is to list and order the albums that I simply don't "get" and to try re-listening to them in the hope of understanding why they've received so many 9 and 10 votes. Ordered by my rating then MS rating then number of votes. Updated: 03-Jan-24 My other lists: Top 500 Albums (ordered & rated) Top 25 EPs (also ordered & rated) Top 200 Overlooked Albums (with genres) So I Heard You Like Wintersun... (Time II find new bands)

My Favourites And Why I Like Them I always admired people who do really cool lists. But since I don't know anything, I can't really make a good one. So here's the babby-boy of lists, just to get my juices flowing.
Will be updated and expanded upon as I have time and see fit. The goal is to get my top 50 maybe, but there's a long road ahead of that.

Doom Noob's Room Of Gloom In early 2018, I started my long and perilous (and awesome) journey of discovering doom metal. This is my doom noob's room of gloom aka a list of those doom albums, that I've come to love during my explorations into the genre. Will add new albums regularly. *weeps in solitude*

Nightfall In Suomi: Finnish Tales Of The Dark And Surreal I took a crack at this list a while ago and then scrapped it. Time for the revival. The idea here is simple enough. For quite a while now Finland seems to have established a formidable reputation for interpretations of metal that are just all around more mindbending, forward thinking and subversive than much of their other counterparts in the international community. This is most noticeable in the realms of black and doom metal, which will be the focus of this list. More or less from the 90s on, much experimentation along the darker, more esoteric lines has been taking place within these arenas of Finnish metal, and the trend continues today. Let's take a look see, shall we?

2023: This was starting to get too long so I split it into separate lists for albums at each ranking 10 to 7. This list will no longer be updated. 10: https://metalstorm.net/users/list.php?list_id=6891 9: https://metalstorm.net/users/list.php?list_id=7213 8: https://metalstorm.net/users/list.php?list_id=7512 7: https://metalstorm.net/users/list.php?list_id=8058

Dirge Music Gone Soul-Wrecking Well, here it is. I was a bit reluctant over listing my favorite funeral doom metal albums but here they are. Feel free to leave a suggestion or two. It's highly appreciated.
Also the albums are sorted by the date of release.

Dark, Harrowing, And Ravaging Albums To Ruin Your Day These obviously won't ruin your day. Chances are if you are into these styles you'll love this selection. No stylistic borders, but I'm limiting myself to one album per band. These aren't necessarily my favorite albums by these bands, but they are the one's I think fit the best.
10ish years later, I find a lot of my descriptions on these really mediocre. Don't judge my shitty writing.

InnerDoom The wide spectrum of sounds expressed through the sub-genre of Doom Metal often gets overshadowed by the somehow inaccessible slowness that is in its nature and so DM doesn't get the recognition it deserves for being, in my opinion, one of the most flexible subgenres of Metal ... Because of that, Doom Metal has remained among my favorite genres of music since the time I was introduced to it through My Dying Bride's "Turn Loose the Swans".

I'm So Good, I Can Relate To That Album! I'll be introducing some albums people can possibly relate to, either because of the music, or the lyrics that people find more personal than others. Also included are my personal favorites.
