Very good songwriting with great riffs and brilliant drumming by Meilenwald. Track 6 is epic.

Sooo superior to Strontgorrth. It's a good record but this is majesty at its greatest.

Ehh, not "sooo superior", but certainly a tad stronger, and more focused feeling. This one truly is majesty at its greatest though. Seriously unreal album

Srontgorrth > this. It is known.
This one is immensely good, obviously, but the next one is among the best BM albums evah for me (the fact that I listened to it before and more frequently that Hunengrab might influence, won't deny it).

Agreed. Srontgorrth is pretty much superior to this.
Actually an interesting comparison is the 'Srontgorrth (Das Dritte Kapitel)' with 'Kapitel Drei (Der Herbst) - Endzeit' in terms of drumming and production, with the former one being kind of immature while the latter one being just perfect.

Actually I'd say it's Srontgorrth's "maturity" that makes it a far less enjoyable record for me, and with less character than this, both in sound: Hünengrab emphasising the raw / melody juxtaposition whereas in Srontgorrth it's too blended and indistinct in that respect (there's little euphoria in Srontgorrth), and also extending to the songs: Hünengrab having a far more direct and focused approach as opposed to Srontgorrth's vague, progressive structures which often float off in uninteresting directions. More mature perhaps, whatever that really means in music, but then who wants to date the mother when you can have the daughter.

For some reason I never took the time to listen to Hünengrab Im Herbst, despite loving Srontgorrth, but your description of what makes it superior, especially the more direct and focused approach, gives me the highest expectations
Halfway through the album now, and I'm certainly not disappointed

What!? You gotta be kidding with this, there are moments i am shivering with euphoria like when an acid dose starts to work But, well, that's very subjective matter.

Aren't you going all the way to kids with this analogy, are you?

What a legendary album. But compared to last album, Virus West is more pure black metal.
Despite Hünengrab Im Herbst and Srontgorrth sound like progressive black metal. But still exceptional. Love it

Better songwriting and much more memorable.
Opinions are weird. I prefer Srontgorrth for exactly the same reasons

Quite surprised to see that people prefer Strontgorrth over Hünengrab. I adore both, but Hünengrab is still the better album. Better songwriting and much more memorable.
Of course especially track 3: Schwanengesang (Swansong), at 09:55, fuckin awesome riffs and blast-beat.

Another forgotten band what is not popular in today BM fans what search different BM as roots. maybe its to powerful to say but its a bit German Windir in some way. Great riffs, great drumming, song tittles and lyrics. Blast,
