,,Under Grey Skies" - is it only me, or intro sounds like ,,The Islander" from Nightwish?
Sounds like House On a HIll, same lyrics and rythmic

There's no wonder if so, since it's Troy Donockley is credited.

Awful, as a hard core fan of both Tommy, the band, and Roy. Will have to write more on this.

What annoys me te most is that Thomas said it would be like a mix of Black Halo and Fourth Legacy, the only trace of Fourth Legacy-ish style is a couple of seconds of the intro to 'Beautiful Apocalypse'.
And it's not really comparable to Black Halo either, every single song on Black Halo is better than every single song in Haven. I really like the album, but it lacks a masterpiece, there is no 'The Haunting' on Haven, no 'Memento Mori', no 'Elizabeth'... I can go on and on...
Its a great album but I expect more from Kamelot.

Looking forward to it, I have some pretty bad stuff to say about it too.
The album has really grown on me though, but I don't like the direction the band is going at all. They should dump Alissa, at least the growling imo.
The lyrics could be written by a 13 year old twilight fan-girl trying to come up with something poetic.
And why is half of the songs just movie soundtracks with vocals over it?

This is Ghost Opera part II imo. It is remotely similar to anything prior to that. It has some great moments, mostly in the first half, but it decreases quality thoughout the album. Also there's an increase of keyboards that i find really annoying. In some songs it even drowns the guitars. As for the "new" singer it's his best performance yet on Kamelot.
Best tracks: "Fallen Star" sets a great mood. "Insomnia" is catchy as hell, and so is "Citizen Zero". "Veil of Elysium" is a very fast and trademark Kamelot (i'm glad they still manage to pull it out), "Under Grey Skies" is a stunning ballad.
If you want to find similarities between past songs and these: Veil of Elysum reminds of the song Ghost Opera.
Worst tracks: "Revolution" is supposed to be a modern almost industrial song? it's crappy as hell. "Here's to the Fall", could Kamelot be more cheesy? I think not. "Haven" closing crappy instrumental.
Meh Tracks: "My Therapy". "Beautiful Apocalypse" as nice vocal melodies and a great solo, but it's overall forgettable. "Liar Liar..." actually sounds reminscent of The Fourth Legacy album melodies, and it has an agressive approach, but still is kinda forgettable too.
All in all, it's their better album since Ghost Opera. I would gladly erase the two albums after it, and interpret Haven as the logical continuation of Ghost Opera.

... Well, sounds like the glory days are gone for good. There is no identity on this album. It's just technically sound structures without any spark of ingenuity. Karevik sounds bland and the same on every song. The vocal melodies are downright awful at times. There's simply nothing special here. I would have much more appreciated a record half the runtime, if the songs had more identity. But this, this is just boring. See that's why I prefer Poetry over the two newer albums. It was more flawed, but it had identity. Eh, whatever. It's better than Blind Guardian's excuse for an album, I guess.

Completely agree, but I don't dare to soil my tongue by calling this album "Ghost Opera pt. II" - Ghost Opera is a masterpiece in compare to this as a whole.
Also, "End of Innocence" sounds like a song taken from Seventh Wonder, and the whole "Khan mimicking" thing is completely whiped out on this track.

A tedious listen for the following reason:

Once again, I needed ten listens or more to fully appreciate this album. Now I can't stop playing it. I think I shall obsess over it for a year or so like I did with Silverthorn. Kamelot keeps getting better and better. Super strong album. Possibly better than Silverthorn. Not too far from Black Halo. Love it!

I'm rating this a 9, even though I'm aware of the very similar song structures because it's just amazing! It just stays fresh forever. Seriously, I have been listening to the album at least once a week since it came out and I'm still not tired of it.
That being said, the thing to suprise me most was the improvement Tommy's vocals. He sounds so much more relaxed and free here that it makes his performance on Silverthorn sound lifeless in comparison. Love it!

I found this album a little more memorable than silverthorn, and by the end of it Tommy had somehow simultaeniously differentiated himself from Roy Khan yet made a real impression on his own. The highs are a little higher, the lows a little lower, but it feels as though now 4 albums in the post Ghost Opera style they are desperately searching for a new hook to hang their albums around.

Not bad really, the new singer is really good. But idk why, i just can't get to really like listening to it. Also, this album feels a lot like rehashing "Poetry For The Poisoned"
