Immortal - Too Tr00 For Spellemann Award Nomination

Norwegian black metal squad Immortal have announced their latest album All Shall Fall was nominated for this year's "Spellemannsprisen" in Norway. The Spellemann Awards are the Norwegian equivalent of the US Grammy Awards.

The band didn't want to be part of that and rejected the nomination.

Rumor on the streets of the grim and frostbitten kingdom has it, the band stated their "thanks, but no thanks" because the Spellemann Awards are chosen by a jury and not by the fans... So technically their participation for the upcoming Metal Storm Awards is not at stake here (that is, if they are nominated of course ). Spicy detail: it was the band's label that entered the band for the Spellemann.

Other nominees for "best metal album" are Code (Resplendent Grotesque), The Cumshots (A Life Less Necessary) and Årabrot (The Brother Seed). The awards are presented on March 6th 2010.

Eluveitie - New Song Online

Swiss folk metallers Eluveitie just posted another new song off their highly anticipated new album Everything Remains (As It Never Was). Check out "Kingdom Come Undone" at the band's MySpace.

Commented bandleader Chrigel Glanzmann: "Here comes the second song off our upcoming album we'd like to present you: "Kingdom come undone". One of our harsher tracks, where juggernautish riffs meet with onrushing folkmelodies. And exactly the same furious character also lies in the lyrics. The song deals with Vercingetorix, a gaulish freedom fighter who lived in the time of the gaulish war. His endeavour was to unite the gaulish clans. The song presents you a passionate speech, like he probably could have held it in front of assembled gaulish chieftains. In that sense: This is V... for Vercingetorix! "

Altars Of Destruction - New Album Almost Ready

Finnish cult thrashers Altars Of Destruction are in the studio putting the finishing touches on their new album, Gallery Of Pain cover art], due later in the year. Several new tracks are currently streaming on the band's MySpace page, including "Children Of Misfortune", "Cross The Line Of No Return", "Suicide Are You Insane?", "Aggression" and "Day Of Judgement".

Formed in 1986 by the brothers Kimmo and Pasi Osmo, along with Jukka Sandberg, Altars Of Destruction went through several lineup changes before releasing an EP, Painful Awakening, in 1989. Due to personal issues, the band split up a short time later. In 2005, Altars Of Destruction regrouped and started writing new songs and reworking old material. Their intention was to "make a couple of new songs and pick out our favourites from the past and make a record that cuts through two decades of metal the way we lived and loved it." Jussi Samppala from Tyrant Disciple also stepped in as the band's new drummer.

DragonForce - Spinefarm To Re-Issue First Two Albums

First two albums to be re-issued with bonus audio/DVD content on February the 22nd 2010 via Spinefarm Records UK.

Both titles will now be available with updated packaging and bonus audio/DVD content, some of it exclusive to these releases...

Formed in 1999, DragonForce issued their "Valley Of The Damned" debut in 2003 - an impressive nine-track showcase for their accomplished power metal forays. Containing a host of songs that still rank amongst the most popular of their output, the likes of "Black Fire", "Evening Star" and the title track itself, "VOTD" has now been Remixed and Remastered to allow every aspect of the recordings to make maximum impact...

"Fans who have heard the original mixes many times might find that the songs sound a bit different now," observes guitarist Herman Li, "but that's how we always wanted the original songs to sound. We just didn't have the time back then to make everything sound the way we wanted."

The studio track, "Where Dragons Rule", has now been added to the audio side, and there is a bonus DVD featuring never-before-seen live footage ('Valley Of The Damned', filmed in Japan), behind-the-scenes material (also from Japan), video commentaries, plus in-studio interviews and clips (shot in Denmark & the UK), all of it lovingly assembled by Li himself.

2004 saw the release of the follow-up album, "Sonic Firestorm", which gave the band the chance to hone their skills and push their fast-lane tales of fantasy to a whole new level. They were happy with "Sonic..." at the time and remain so to this day, which is why the mixing and the mastering have been left just as they are; however, the packaging has been upgraded, an extra track added ("Cry Of The Brave" - a song the group felt uncomfortable taking off first time around), and - as with "Valley..." - a bonus DVD added, this one featuring live footage from Japan ("Fury Of The Storm"), video commentaries plus freshly recorded interviews with the band members themselves.

As a way of celebrating the recordings that effectively launched DF's international career, both re-issued albums will be included in a limited edition box along with exclusive band merchandise and various exclusive collectable items (1 x T-Shirt / 1 x Plectrum / 1 x inflatable guitar).

Sight Of Emptiness - New Video Online

"Faceless Dream", the new video from Costa Rica-based melodic extreme metal band Sight Of Emptiness, can be viewed in the following link.

The clip was directed by Sergio Gutierrez and produced by Fernando Fonseca. The song comes off the band's second studio album, Absolution of Humanity, which is expected to be released late February/early March via an as-yet-undetermined record label.

Commented the band: "Very excited for this new step in our short career, it shows how determined we are as a band when it comes to do things our way and self-financed. 2010 looks and feels like the right time for the band to conquer new territories and big things to come our way".

Absolution of Humanity was mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Soilwork, Bloodbath, Katatonia, Symphony X) at Örebro, Sweden's Fascination Street Studios.

Commented the group: "Having Jens Bogren working on our new album is unreal. He is responsible for numerous masterpieces: Opeth's Watershed, Amon Amarth's Twilight of the Thunder God and Katatonia's The Great Cold Distance. Having him on board makes us a lot more excited about our new creation; you can't go wrong with a guy like this. We gave him the green light and he is doing an awesome job; we love this guy already. He is a perfectionist and an honest and humble lad."

Absolution of Humanity cover art] tracklisting:

01. Predictable Tragedy
02. Infected
03. Faceless Dream
04. Witness of your Murder
05. Funeral March
06. The Art of Suffering
07. Judge me today...Die Tomorrow
08. Absolution of Humanity
09. Burning Silence

Three songs ? "Burning Silence", "Infected" and "Predictable Tragedy" ? have been posted on the group's official MySpace.
