Ghost Machinery - New Vocalist Found

Finnish power metallers Ghost Machinery have found a new vocalist and are still in search for a new label.

New frontman of the band is Taage Laiho. He's also a vocalist of a well known Finnish band Kilpi, but also known from his work on two Altaria albums. Taage's vocals can be heard on Divinity and The Fallen Empire albums and he also made an extensive European tour with the band in 2006. Kilpi band just released their 5th album, Pirun Merta, and at the moment Kilpi is touring in Finland.

Ghost Machinery was formed by a Pete Ahonen (Burning Point) in 2002 and they released their debut album, Haunting Remains, in December 2004. It was highly praised in the media all over the world and it gained lots of great reviews as well as huge amount of interviews was made during the time of the release.

It might seem to the public that not much activity, but the band has been very active "beneath" the surface and the guys have been in and out from the studio recording the 2nd album Out For Blood. Also the band is very happy that although Taage is a newest member he was able to put his "mark" on the record. Obviously with his great singing but also lyrically he was very much involved.

Currently the band is putting finishing touches to the Out For Blood album and their plan is to release a single at the end of this year.

Sarah Jezebel Deva - Solo Record Out In February

Sarah Jezebel Deva (Angtoria, Cradle Of Filth, Therion) will release her solo album A Sign Of Sublime in February 2010 through Rising Records. The drums on the CD were laid down by Max Blunos, formerly of the UK death metal outfit Trigger The Bloodshed. Other guest musicians that appear on the album include keyboard player Martin Powell (Cradle Of Filth, Anathema, My Dying Bride) and bassist Dave Pybus (Cradle Of Filth).

Regarding the musical direction of her solo debut, Sarah said in September: "It's not another Angtoria, it's not Cradle Of Filth what is it? Hell if I know! Haha... it's music! No label, just me and the people I care about doing music. It's not pompous, it's not over the top. I would like to say it's just a mixture of styles and feelings. Some tracks are fast, almost having a black metal edge, some tracks are slow, almost like a movie film score... and well, it just doesn't all sound the same, it's not blast beats from start to finish, it has feeling, and well, that's it!"

A Sign Of Sublime will include a cover version of Meredith Brooks' "Bitch", which is described by Sarah as "slightly more heavy than the original." She adds, "I did it because I love the song! Simple. It's rock! It don't know if we have added anything to the song or taken anything away. Either way, it was fun to do and that's what music is about."

On the topic of her continuing collaboration with Dave Pybus, Sarah says, "I feel lucky to have one of my best friends work with me on this album. He did Angtoria and, of course, Dave and I have worked together many years in Cradle Of Filth and I am just proud to have someone by my side who doesn't put any restrictions on me and doesn't believe in putting restrictions on music. He is open-minded and fun, loyal and very hard-working and we both have the same vision... to enjoy life and playing."

Accept - Busy Recording New Album

Accept bassist Peter Baltes (ex-Dokken) has issued the following studio update regarding the new Accept studio album on his MySpace blog:

"Just an update to everyone. Accept just started recording a new studio album in England. We are very exited and love our new singer Mark Tornillo. Andy Sneap, who just finished with Megadeth, is producing the album. If you want to know more please go to the Peter Baltes Fan Page on Facebook. I will be talking there often. Gotta go back recording. You all have a great rockin' week."

The as-yet-untitled CD is being recorded at Andy Sneap's Backstage studio in Derbyshire, England. An early 2010 release is expected via an as-yet-undetermined record label.

Commented Sneap in September: "We just had a week of pre-production in Nashville at castle Von Hoffmann , working on vocal ideas and arrangements for seven new Accept songs. Mark Tornillo is seriously on the money; actually, he reminds me a touch of David Wayne from Metal Church crossbred with Bon Scott (AC/DC) ? not a pretty mental image, I know, but it's fitting the music great. He's got his own thing going as well, of course, but comparisons are always the easiest way to describe something without hearing it."

He added, "The music is now tending to lean towards the classic heavier albums too, so I'd class this last week as more of a front-row seat watching some great songs come together rather than work."

Mortiis - Dutch And Belgian Shows In December

Mortiis will be unleashing their collective demons on The Netherlands and Belgium during a four-show jaunt to continental Europe.

"We're all looking forward to going back to Holland," said band namesake Mortiis. "We haven't played there in a long time and we always had a great time there. We're also doing a couple of towns there we haven't played before, so that will be interesting as well."

Following the three Dutch shows, the band will head to Belgium for the Hermes Project Event, where they will play with Clan Of Xymox.

Mortiis has been putting the finishing touches on The Great Deceiver, the group's long-awaited follow-up to 2005's The Grudge. Tracks from the record can be heard - and seen - via the videos for "Doppelganger" and "Zeitgeist" on Mortiis's YouTube channel. Mortiis also promises to preview several new songs during the live shows.

"We're gearing up to release The Great Deceiver at long last, and it felt like it would make sense to do a few shows before 2009 comes to an end," Mortiis said. "Shake the dust off and get back into the "live mode", so to speak. We obviously plan on coming back to The Netherlands/Belgium and as many other countries as possible during 2010."

Live dates are as follows:

12/16/09 - Zaandam, Kade
12/17/09 - Rotterdam, Watt Basement
12/18/09 - Leeuwarden, Gloppe
12/19/09 - Heule, OC De Vonke
