Redcraving - Ink Deal With Glasstone Records

Glasstone Records have signed Redcraving. Here's the official word:

"Redcraving are a five-headed band from Berlin/Germany, whose music can't be described with just one genre or hype, but an ever-evolving & incomparable mixture of styles that keeps you interested ebbing and flowing to usually a sweet and dreamy end. The best of both worlds.

Combining Post-Hardcore, Screamo and Southern Rock with electro, synthesizer and piano elements Redcraving don't hesitate to enter indie or ambient territory because they simply play the music that feels right and delivers a wide variety of emotions!

The enormous intensity of Redcraving's numerous live shows and the pure energy right in your face complement the powerful parts as well as the dreamy moments of their music. Having found their now existing line-up in late 2007 they have played nearly 100 shows all over Germany!

The recording for their forthcoming release, Lethargic, Way Too Late was completed at Daily Hero Studio with Florian Nowak, and will be released Feb 2010 on Glasstone Records."

The band added: "We are stoked to announce that we will be working together with Glasstone Records, who are going to distribute and promote our new record Lethargic, Way Too Late, recorded at the Daily Hero Studio / Berlin, in the UK! The CD will be released on November 13th by Midsummer Records and a bit later in the UK. We will be anouncing the date soon!"

Ratt - New Album Title Revealed

Official press release

Legendary hard rock icons Ratt announced today that Infestation will be the title of their next album, due out in March 2010 via Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records. Infestation is the band's first studio album since 1999. Infestation was produced by Elvis Baskette (Chevelle, Incubus, Limp Bizkit) and marks the very first time in their storied career that Ratt have recorded outside of Los Angeles! The band lived together at Elvis' Virginia studio while recording the album. In addition to core, longtime members Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini and Bobby Blotzer, the album also features new guitarist Carlos Cavazo, formerly of Quiet Riot, and Robbie Crane, who has been with the band for twelve years, will continue on bass.

Ratt have enjoyed a rich, impressive and certainly long-lasting legacy through the years, having made their mark in the 1980s with several platinum albums, including Out of the Cellar, Invasion of Your Privacy and Dancing Undercover. With 1984's mega-platinum debut Out of the Cellar celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the band is looking forward to starting a new chapter with new music to complement the impressive legacy they have established over two-plus decades.

New footage of Warren recording solo for the new Ratt song "Lost Weekend", can be seen here.

Mantric - Sign To Prosthetic Records

Official press release

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of Mantric to the label for a worldwide, multi-album deal. Formed in 2007 in Oslo, Norway from the ashes of metal pioneers Extol, Mantric takes the visionary songwriting approach of its founding members to new, epic heights.

Fusing a unique, distinctly Scandinavian take on rich, challenging metal and punk with a powerful progressive edge, Mantric recorded their upcoming debut in Norway, with studio guru Tue Madsen (Dark Tranquillity, The Haunted) handling mixing and mastering duties. Prosthetic Records quickly recognized that something rather special was developing and are now very happy to have Mantric as part of their diverse roster.

The as-yet-untitled Mantric debut album is scheduled for worldwide release in February. A special preview track, "Spear Of Heaven," is now online at the official Mantric MySpace page.

Commenting on the signing, Mantric said in a joint statement: "We are truly satisfied to end up signing with Prosthetic! Our first album using the Mantric name to our ears deserves to get out to lovers of hard music all over the world, and Prosthetic makes this possible. We also feel honored to be amongst the quality and variety represented by the bands signed to Prosthetic. Our music embraces creativity and originality outside the limits of narrow genres, so it suits us fine to deal with a label that also values this. This is a release that is both accessible and original, catchy and complex at the same time, and we can't wait to get it out!"

The partnership with Mantric is a significant move for Prosthetic, being the label's first worldwide signing of a European band. Prosthetic's European label manager, Duncan Dinsdale, also commented: "I'm very excited to be working with a band of such pedigree. I've been a huge fan of Extol for a long time, and now Mantric are making truly urgent music that reaffirms my faith in what challenging heavy music should be."

Musicians Launch Campaign Against The Use Of Their Music At Guantánamo

Nine Inch Nails and Rage Against The Machine have joined efforts with some other rock and pop artists (such as Pearl Jam, Jackson Browne and R.E.M.) to campaign against the use of their music in Guantanamo Bay to torture the detainees. The National Security Archive, an independent research institute that is based in Washington, have uncovered under the Freedom of Information Act about 20 classified documents that detail the use of loud music as "an interrogation device" to "create futility" in uncooperative detainees.

Terror suspects have been tortured with songs by Rage Against the Machine, Deicide ("Fuck Your God"), Metallica ("Enter Sandman"), Britney Spears, the theme tune to Sesame Street, Barney the Dinosaur's title song and a number of tracks by shock rocker Marilyn Manson. One detainee spent hours being forced to listen to Drowning Pool's "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor". Some inmates also complained of being subjected to the work of Eminem, Bruce Springsteen ("Born in the U.S.A.") and the Bee Gees in order to prevent them sleeping.

The musicians, in collaboration with the National Security Archive, are participating in The National Campaign to Close Guantanamo. Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello said: "Guantanamo may be Dick Cheney's idea of America, but it's not mine. The fact that music I helped create was used in crimes against humanity sickens me - we need to end torture and close Guantanamo now."

The CIA insist that if music was played at Guantanamo, it was played at "levels far below a live rock band".

Slumber - Band Update

Swedish metallers Slumber have issued the following update:

"After a couple of turbulent months in the race to finish the new album we've encountered a few obstacles wich forced us to delay the recording. The drummer Ted had to leave the band becuase of private reasons, and we have two new drummers replacing him temporarily for the Resonance recording. Studio "Panic Room" in Skara is now booked four weeks starting 7th January.

We will announce a few changes in the line-up after the recording as some reorganizing is happening for 2010. Prospects of finding a label that suits our world for the coming three albums is looking very solid. This will also be announced shortly after the recording. We will report from the studio trenches once we're there. We're making a lifework effort here people. Bear with us a little longer, and your ears will be greatly rewarded. 2010 will be a Slumber year. We will make doom and gloom shine brighter than an elven arse!"

Grave Digger - Guitarist Leaves The Band, Live Session Player Found

Original news, posted on 09.10.2009

German metallers Grave Digger have issued the following update regarding the disbandment of guitarist Manni Schmidt from their ranks:

"We have to make an announcement that most of you probably never expected. A band like Grave Digger has to develop constantly. The problem is that this is only possible if the musicians have the same goal and the same attitude. And they have to feel good with what they are doing. If you have some permanent stress in the band, there is no more productive work possible and in the long run the music suffers from this situation. Unfortunately, there were so many disagreements recently building up between Manni and Chris that this would affect the productivity and creativity in a bad way. Because of all this, Manni decided to leave Grave Digger. This happened by mutual consent. We wish Manni all the best for the future and say thank you for many nice and eventful years.

But we also have some good news: There is no effect on the concerts that are already booked. The last word about the replacement guitar player is not spoken yet. We first want to wait for the results of the rehearsals. After this, we will introduce you to the replacement guitarist. We already spoke to a possible candidate and we will start the rehearsals in the next days."

UPDATE (thanks to 5933)

Grave Digger states: "This week, we had the first rehearsal with our replacement guitarist Axel Ritt (Domain). Everything went well and we have a positive feeling about the upcoming concerts, Axel was learning our live program in only 3 weeks. He is a good old friend of Stefan and Chris and for now he will be the replacement guitar player until the end of the year. We will make a final decision at the beginning of January. But now we are excited about the upcoming gigs."
