Stormlord - Working On New Album

Italy's Stormlord have posted the following update:

"It's been a while since we've made any sort of updates about Stormlord, isn't it? But this doesn't mean that we spent our time just hanging around without nothing to do. In all these months we've been working hard and, at last, we're ready to give you the first news about our future.

The songwriting for our fourth album is almost done, right now we're taking care of the last details and then all the songs will be complete. What we hold in our hands it's the most epic sounding stuff since our debut "Supreme Art Of War", even if the references to our most recent albums will not be missed. We guess you can label it Extreme Epic Metal at its best.

In a few months we'll begin recording the successor of "The Gorgon Cult", we just can't wait for you to hear it!

But the best it's yet to come: in the next days we'll sign a new deal that will grant an huge availability all around the world to the new Cd.

It's been a long time filled with hard and silent work, but now we're ready to strike again! We've got a shitload of amazing surprises waiting for you all, so stay tuned. The Stormlord is ready for another battle!"

Testament - Prosthetic Records Will Reissue Two Albums

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce reissues from Bay Area metal legends Testament. Both to feature new liner notes, 1997's "Demonic" was remastered and 1999's "The Gathering" will include the previously only available in Japan, "Hammer Of The Gods." Both will see a worldwide release through the label on Jan. 8, 2008. Previously released through Spitfire Records and currently out of print, both records are a welcome addition to the Prosthetic Records catalog.

Currently gearing up for the release of a new studio record featuring all new music via Nuclear Blast, Testament's line-up for "Demonic" included Gene Hoglan (Death, Strapping Young Lad), while "The Gathering" featured metal legends James Murphy (Death, Obituary), Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Iced Earth, Sadus), and Dave Lombardo (Slayer).

Comments Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler: "Testament is far and away one of the most influential bands in all of modern metal. While other veteran acts soak up much of the spotlight with sing a-longs, Testament maintains the unsurpassed musicianship, integrity and brutality that continues to create an untouchable legacy."

More praise for Testament: Joel Stroesl (Killswitch Engage): "Testament has been one of my favorite bands for many years...they have always helped define aggression and musicianship. They are one of the few bands that have kicked ass throughout their entire career. "Demonic" and "The Gathering" not only kept with the times in the metal world...but set new standards."

Silenoz (Dimmu Borgir): "The Gathering was a sledgehammer to the face when it came out and still is to this day! Sheer rawness and power combined with catchy, groovy patterns and monstrous thrash riffs proves Testament as one of the most influential metal bands ever to grace planet earth. I sum this album up in one word: authority!"

Dez Fafara (Devildriver): "The Gathering is equal to "Back In Black" by AC/DC in its song writing and song sequence. For some, its either Metallica or Testament; for me it's Testament. "Demonic" is the deadliest, dirtiest, crushing record, where they truly found their heavier and darker side."

Bolt Thrower - Vote BT On Wacken Open Air 2008

UK Death Metal steamrollers Bolt Thrower have posted the following message:

"As most of you probably know, Bolt Thrower don't like to play festivals, but as a lot of you want to see us playing festivals, we try and play at least one festival a year. After receiving numerous offers, we now have to choose which festival to play next Summer, and would like you to help us decide.

As BT are not financially driven, the fee is pretty irrelevant, as is whether we play to 1000 people or 100,000. Our main requirement would be to have our usual merchandise / meet and greet booth, with no price restrictions.

Wacken Open Air festival have asked us again to play next Summer, and the date would fit in with the gap in our planned recording and mixing schedule for next year. A lot of you have asked us to play Wacken over the years, and a lot of you have advised us not to play it, for various reasons.

So now, we would like you to help us decide by taking part in the following poll.

Poll: Would you like to see Bolt Thrower play the Wacken Open Air festival?

We'd really like to hear your opinions, so please vote... "

Impaled - New Album Streaming Online

In celebration of the release of their latest album yesterday (6 November), Impaled have offered the following advice:

"It's D Day? Death Day. Celebrate this day in the history of Thanatology with the latest Impaled record "The Last Gasp".

Some celebration ideas?
01. Gather your friends and listen to the new record together
02. Start a public mosh pit
03. Buy a second copy to keep sealed like a Star Wars figure
04. If your local store doesn't have the record, ask 'em why then spit on the manager
05. Buy yourself a present from the Impaled Shop
06. Walk around with an Rxxx written in ash on your forehead
07. When someone scores in soccer, scream "GORE!!!"
08. Listen to all your Impaled records in order at top volume till your ears bleed
09. Drink 15 Rockstars until you get heart palpitations
10. Bake a cake and mail it to Impaled

Now if all that doesn't sound like fun, you've got problems.

If you're unlucky enough to be working today or stuck in school and can't get the new record, fret not... it's streaming in its entirety at mp3.com. That's right... you can waste the bandwidth of your lousy job and listen to the new Impaled record until you're crazy with bloodlust. Check it out here: http://www.mp3.com/artist/impaled."

Into Eternity - Begin Work On Concept Album

Official Century Media press release:

Extreme progressive metal leaders Into Eternity have completed the touring cycle for their highly acclaimed album, "The Scattering of Ashes", and are currently hard at work on material for their much anticipated new recording, which guitarist/vocalist Tim Roth says will be the group's first conceptual album.

"The Scattering of Ashes" campaign saw the band embark on five North American tours with highlights including an appearance on Gigantour performing alongside Megadeth and Lamb Of God, but it was this past summer's tour alongside Dream Theater that really saw the band reach out to a new audience.

Roth states: "We are officially done touring for "The Scattering Of Ashes". We ended up doing 150 shows and being away for close to 200 days of the year! The whole band did a great job, as it's not always easy being away from home for so long, but I think it's important to do it the old-school way and tour as much as we can. No one can say we're a lazy band!

"Our last tour was with Edguy, Light This City and Echoes Of Eternity. It was a big success for us, so we want to thank those bands again. It was cool bonding with all the bands and 'bro-ing down' with them at 4:20. This touring cycle, we also got to tour with Megadeth, Lamb Of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Sanctity, The Smash-Up, Destruction, Hirax, Municipal Waste, The Haunted, Dark Tranquillity, Scar Symmetry, Redemption and the mighty Dream Theater! We ended up doing five full U.S. tours on this cycle, and they all were special to us. Playing with Megadeth and Dream Theater each night was a real dream come true!

"Right now we are home in Canada awaiting the cold chill of winter. It is supposed to snow tomorrow, so I'll be in front of my warm computer composing new riffs for the next album. For the first time ever, we will be doing a concept album. Stu and I are working on the lyrics right now. It's always good to keep moving forward and to try new things, and this is something that we have always wanted to do. We have done two songs already, and it's turning out really cool. We'll keep you posted in the future as things start to progress further.

"Thanks to all our fans for supporting us, and we'll see you again in 2008!"

Deicide - Ralph Santolla Playing Guitar On Upcoming Album

Official Earache Records press release:

Veteran guitarist, Ralph Santolla has rejoined Deicide and is currently hard at work recording his guitar parts for Deicide's 2008 release, "Till Death Do Us Part" at Morrisound Studios in Florida.

Deicide had previously parted ways with Ralph Santolla back in May of this year. Over the course of the following months, he would spend the summer touring with Obituary and pushing his talent as far as it could go. When he was asked to rejoin Deicide in time for the recording of "Till Death Do Us Part", Santolla came back to the fold as a man possessed and he had come back, literally better than ever before.

While there will inevitably be naysayers who doubt the decision, Deicide drummer, Steve Asheim insists that Ralph Santolla's return will only strengthen the maniacal musical landscape that Deicide is known for. "Ralph is really reaching towards the very depths of his abilities to come up with something completely fresh and challenging."

Even those outside of the band have given nothing but positive feedback on Ralph Santolla's progress during the recording sessions. "Jim Morris came and told me that Ralph has been coming up with some of the greatest metal riffs and licks that he's ever heard;" says Asheim. "Ralph's really pushing his abilities to the limit, coming up with things that he's never been able to do before."

View some recent shots of Ralph Santolla recording his guitar parts at Morrisound Studios in Florida:

"Till Death Do Us Part" will be released in early 2008.

Opeth - Recording New Album

Opeth mastermind Mikael Åkerfeldt has posted the following blog on his MySpace yesterday (October 31):

"On October 28 at 9:20 AM my wife gave birth to our second daughter, Mirjam Ebba Maria Åkerfeldt. She is so beautiful, just looking at her brings me to tears! Who'd known that I, a bum from the Stockholm suburbs would be the father of 2 beautiful daughters? Yes guys! I am happy!

On top of that the album is now written and the demos sound fantastic! We will start recording it tomorrow actually! I don't wanna say too much but....gee, it is so fucking good!! If I may say so myself....Expected "delivery date" on this one is sometime in April/May 08.

On top of that (2)...my friends at PRS guitars and Laney decided to give me some early Christmas gifts. I had a stunning PRS Hollowbody II delivered and it's just awesome! Real ear and eye candy! And from Laney I got the new Lionheart mini stack which sounds beyond fantastic! That rig will be used quite a lot in the studio I'm sure!

Yes, you can probably say the last few days have been pretty fucking decent!"

Heaven And Hell - To Record New Album In 2008

The following press release was posted on Black-Sabbath.com:

"There's been much speculation of a forthcoming Black Sabbath reunion with the original line-up with Ozzy Osbourne at the helm, but founding member Geezer Butler has adamantly denied such rumors.

"Heaven and Hell are currently in discussions with various record labels about recording a brand new studio album in 2008," says Butler.

Black Sabbath's recent incarnation as Heaven & Hell- fronted by Ronnie James Dio on lead vocals, sees the seminal heavy metal band undertaking a major UK arena tour this November. The band's moniker is taken after Black Sabbath's critically acclaimed 1980 studio album "Heaven and Hell" featuring the title track and the breakout hit "Neon Knights". Ronnie James Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath in 1980 and the band went on to release four albums including 1980's "Heaven & Hell", 1981's "Mob Rules", and the 1982 live album "Live Evil", as well as the highly under rated "Dehumanizer" in June 1992.

Legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (Dio, Black Sabbath, Rainbow) shares the spotlight on lead vocals, original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, plus drummer Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath) as they embark on a major 11-date UK arena tour starting at Newcastle Metro Arena on Sunday 4th November.

The "Heaven and Hell" UK tour continues at the Glasgow SECC (Nov 6), Sheffield Arena (Nov 7), Manchester MEN Arena (Nov 9), London Wembley Arena (Nov 10), Brighton Centre (Nov 11), Birmingham NEC (Nov 13), Cardiff Arena (Nov 14), Nottingham Arena (Nov 15), Plymouth Pavilions (Nov 17), Bournemouth BIC (Nov 18).
