Goatwhore - Will Enter The Studio In 2011

Official Press Release

After a very successful run on this summer's Ozzfest, New Orleans, Louisiana's sons of American no-frills black metal meets death and roll Goatwhore will be once again hitting the road in support of their current album Carving Out The Eyes Of God, which came out in June 2009. Starting on September 22 in Raleigh, NC at Volume 11, Goatwhore will be joining label mates The Absence for 6 dates and will head straight into the start of The Black Dahlia Murder tour that kicks off on September 28 in Columbus OH at Skully's. Shortly after the tour alongside fellow label mates The Black Dahlia Murder, Goatwhore will be ending a very successful year of touring by joining Watain and Black Anvil for a tour that takes the band across the US throughout the month of November. Shortly after Goatwhore finishes up their run with Watain and Black Anvil, the band will be entering the studio to begin recording their 5th full-length album, and 3rd for Metal Blade Records. More details on the studio and the new material will be made available over the coming months on Metal Blade's and Goatwhore's sites.

"Just when one tour comes to an end another few step into place. We have, as always, put an extreme effort on touring for each release we put out. Our most current release, Carving Out The Eyes Of God, is no exception and has brought us on many great touring adventures. Just returning home from Ozzfest 2010 we find ourselves locking in the rest of the year with two excellent tours. First, alongside our good friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, then a final end of the year outing with the black art of Watain. The Ozzfest experience was a great thing to be a part of. Playing and hanging with good friends and the bonus of watching some legendary musicians that have influenced us from our earlier metal years. We are looking forward to finishing up the year and getting things rolling for the next release. Hope to see everyone on the road in the next couple of months" comments vocalist Ben Falgoust.

Drummer Zack Simmons adds: "this has been a great time touring for this record. We've been very fortunate to been included on a lot of good tours. It was an honor to be included on Ozzfest once again. We are very confident and determined to deliver another killer record and tour our asses off again, as we always do! Stay fuck!!! Stay thirsty, my friends! P.S. Be careful where you store your sewing needles. You never know what can happen..."

Death Breath - New Album Almost Finished

Back in February we already hinted at the new Death Breath album. In a short statement, the Swedish death metallers now confirm the release of an as-yet-untitled album likely due later this year. The band checked in as follows:

"Just letting you folks know we're still here. We have a finished album except for some vocals left to do. We've been touring most of the spring/summer with our other bands or doing albums etc. That's just the way it is. Still can't say when we will put the next Death Breath release out, but it will happen when we feel the time is right. Meanwhile listen to some Judas Priest or maybe a little Thin Lizzy."

3 Inches Of Blood - New Video Online

Bloody Disgusting and Century Media Records have teamed up to bring you the exclusive look at the new 3 Inches Of Blood video for "Silent Killer", off their Here Awaits Thy Doom album. The video has been banned by MTV for being too graphic. Check it out at this location.

Guitarist Shane Clark checks in about the video: "The concept of the song is about an assassin, so naturally we first thought of a concept featuring an assassin going around doing what they do, but in a style that is more influenced by movies that we liked. At first we thought about a simple performance style video but we've done that a few times and this seemed like a much more entertaining thing for us and our fans. Therefore, we brainstormed a bunch of ideas with Rick Podd and thought of our own killing scenes. I wanted to get poisoned and puke blood and vomit all over the place, and after that it was all in the hands of Rick.

I really had a good time with the acting stuff; it was great to work with Chris Valago as well. Some know him as the Heathen from Zimmers Hole, he's the big FX banana in the Vancouver TV & Film industry, more importantly he's a good friend of mine so we got to sit and plan out the puking at great length, I'm really happy with how that turned out. As for the entire final product, I'm very happy with it, having everyone work together on something and have it turn out great is really satisfying."

Forbidden - Album Artwork Revealed

Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Forbidden have debuted the artwork to their new studio album, Omega Wave. Omega Wave will be released in Europe on October 22 and in North America on October 26 via Nuclear Blast Records. Album details are available here.

Forbidden guitarist/songwriter Craig Locicero checks in about his collaborative process with artist Kent Mathieu, the visual elements that can be found in the album's artwork, and his concern for the future of the human race:

"As soon as Forbidden committed to writing a new record, I wondered where Kent Mathieu was. I'd always felt like Forbidden Evil and Twisted Into Form were pretty iconic album covers... when things like that actually seemed to matter; Then, the good people at Nuclear Blast actually located Kent! I got pretty excited and reached out to him immediately. He was equally excited to hear from us, too. The only real direction I gave Kent was to somehow tie the past into the future. Find a way to make the two skulls [from Forbidden Evil's artwork] vital again. He had worked up about 12 sketches all kinds of variously cool stuff. Out of all of the pictures he sent me, I liked the way one of them was laid out because of it's simplicity. After thinking about it for a long while, I had a concept for Kent to work with. The Omega Wave concept. The title wasn't decided until I had a good idea for the cover.

I don't want to over-explain the actual picture because there is enough symbolism for everyone to interpret everything differently. That is always a plus, in my book. What I can tell you is that the skull in the center is based upon the crystal skull of Belize. This skull was found at some of the pyramid ruins in two perfect pieces, jawbone and upper cranium. It was always quite a mystery, but some years later Hewlett Packard scientists did extensive tests on the skull and found many anomalies. One of them was that there is no way, even with our most modern technology, that we could cut into the crystal the way this skull was formed. It would shatter with any instrument we have available, even today. Another thing was the fact that no matter what temperature the skull was placed in, the skull's temperature would stay almost exactly the same. Scientists even believe the skull holds information that they could not tap into, like a giant computer chip with an impenetrable code.

Jon Oliva's Pain - Guitarist And Bassist Sitting Out Tour

Both Jon Oliva's Pain's bassist and guitarist won't appear on the band's upcoming European tour. The band issued the following statement:

"Due to personal obligations here at home, bassist Kevin Rothney (ex-Circle II Circle) and guitarist Tom McDyne will be unable to join us for this show and the upcoming tour. Everything possible was done to insure that they would be able to attend, and we will miss not having them with JOP for this tour. So, please welcome back Jerry Outlaw on guitar. Many will remember Jerry from JOP's past tours in support of our first release, Tage Mahal. Jerry is one of the most brilliant guitar players anywhere. His stellar tribute band to Frank Zappa (Bogus Pomp), is one of the most recognized Zappa bands in the world. Check him out for yourselves on the net.

Taking over bass duties for the tour is Tampa's phenom-bass player, Jason Gaines. With credits such as Basic Rock Outfit, and Groove Altar, he is one of the most sought after and busiest bass players around. We are grateful to find such a talent to round out the line-up for these shows.

Rehearsals are going great and we will be ready to bring the JOP/Savatage catalog to life in just a few days. See you at the State Theatre and on tour in Europe beginning September 28th in Berlin, Germany. Don't forget the live DVD filming at The 013 in Tilburg, Holland on October 15th!"

Upcoming JOP tour dates include:

17.09.2010 - USA - St. Petersburg, FL @ The State Theatre

Theatre Of Tragedy - Potential DVD In The Works

Theatre Of Tragedy, who have decided to break up at the end of the year, need your help for their farewell project. Here's the story.

As some of you might have heard already, Theatre Of Tragedy are planning their first and last DVD with lots of live and background footage. The DVD should be some kind of farewell gift to the fans.

Though due to unforeseen events, it is getting quite difficult to get through with it. The band thought the financial side was cleared (about 25.000 Euros) but it was withdrawn at the last moment. This was quite a shock for everyone and the band had to think of a solution to go on with the DVD.

After lots of talk, the label will now give 10.000 Euros and the band members themselves will also give 10.000 Euro for the production of the DVD. This leaves a missing 5.000 Euros. The band's idea is to give you the possibility to make this DVD possible with your donations.

Said Theatre Of Tragedy: "If we don't reach 5.000 Euros within a week we will pay all your donations back of course but we sadly have to bury the idea of this DVD then. If you donate 100 Euros or more we will put your name on the DVD cover and send you a signed DVD after the release. Let's give this a try. It's our last chance for a final Theatre of Tragedy release!"

Firewind - Unveil More Album Details

Greek melodic metal phenomenon Firewind has returned with the scathing new studio album effort Days of Defiance, which is easily their defining musical moment. The much anticipated disc is set for an October 25th release in Europe, as well as an October 26th release in North America. Days of Defiance is a truly ambitious and dynamic opus featuring some of the most brilliant guitar playing the genre has seen in many years.

The striking cover artwork was designed by the band's longtime partner in all design matters, Gustavo Sazes, and can now be viewed here.

Firewind's guitarist and songwriter Gus G., currently on tour with Ozzy Osbourne in Europe, checks in with the following comment about the album and its artwork: "I'm very excited and cannot wait for our fans to listen to our new album! We feel we've captured great performances and took our songwriting to the next level on this one. There's tons of cool guitar on there and I believe Bob has finally managed to reach warp-speed with his keyboard solos! Even more seriously, I highly recommend that you listen to this album at a very loud volume.

As for the artwork, it was once again done by our visual wizard and webmaster extraordinaire, Gustavo Sazes. This time we asked Gustavo to come up with a great landscape scenery, with a more traditional approach and even get the "pencil" style of artwork on there, but also combine it with more modern stuff. So, he gave us that... with a slight futuristic, sci-fi element and I think the end result is stunning!"

Click here to view an album trailer, featuring a short advance clip of the new "World On Fire" video.

Days Of Defiance [cover art] tracklist:

01. The Ark Of Lies
02. World On Fire
03. Chariot
04. Embrace The Sun
05. The Departure
06. Heading For The Dawn
07. Broken
08. Cold As Ice
09. Kill In The Name Of Love
10. SKG
11. Losing Faith
