Dark Fortress - Another New Video Available Online

German black metallers Dark Fortress have revealed new video for a song ''Ylem'', from the bands same titled album. The clip was shot in the Dechenhoehle, a natural flowstone cave that offered the perfect set for the story of "Ylem".

Morean (vocals): "The title track of our last album is a spell summoning the death of the universe in an accelerated "big crunch". The end of all living matter in the universe is inevitable, and in this invocation the sorcerer is a witness to this inevitable cosmic disaster. The clip is set in an atmosphere of desertion, with no more signs of civilisation, after the exponentially growing sun has scorched away all traces of life. As a last refuge, going underground offers the only shelter that is left, where the protagonist willingly surrenders to destruction and embraces his own end in a vision evoking both the distant past and distant future of our planet."

Redemption - Working On New Album

US progressive metallers Redemption are composing new material for their fifth studio album. Guitarist Nicolas van Dyk checked in with the following statement:

"Hello folks, and sorry for the long silence from us. It's been a very busy summer for us away from Redemption, particularly for Ray who as most of you surely know did a reunion tour with the Parallels lineup of Fates Warning to commemorate the 20th anniversary of that fantastic release.

I remain in complete remission with no trace of the disease that I announced publicly about a year ago. I remain on three powerful medications to ensure that the cancer does not return. Of the five original active lesions in my bones, none are active for cancer and one of them has resolved (i.e. been completely repaired with new bone). The other four are in the process of being repaired and that is the next big milestone. Patience is required but I believe they will get there. If that happens, it is a good sign that I am well down the road to being cured (according to the very aggressive doctor to whom I entrust my care). However I must remain on these medicines for two more years. They have many unpleasant side effects but I am resolved to stick with the program and beat "incurable" blood cancer. Thank you all very much for your prayers, positive vibes and words of support - they mean a lot.

And so life continues, and with it, a new Redemption CD in the works! We are in the early pre-production stages at this point, still composing and arranging. It's too early to say too much, but I can share that the arrangements vary from short (for us!) hard-hitting songs to at least one and possibly two more sprawling ideas, and that a few of the working titles at this point are Noonday Devil, Dreams from the Pit and Rain in my Soul.

We'll have more to post in the coming weeks and months, and hopefully some great new music for you in 2011!"

Arsis - N. American Headlining Tour Announced

As confirmed last Friday, Virginia-based melodic tech death metal masters, Arsis, are pleased to announce their headlining tour across North America this upcoming December.

A Tour for the Sick is presented by MetalInjection.net and will include 8 bit metal heroes Powerglove and the Sumerian Records touring juggernaut Conducting From The Grave.

Arsis vocalist/guitarist Jim Malone commented: "What does a band that is notorious for canceling tours, video game induced tendinitis, and a Noah Martin look-a-like all have in common? If you have spent the better part of your existence trying to play 16th triplet arpeggios at 250 bpm you will probably be overcome with joy (or something) to hear that we (meaning Arsis dudes), Powerglove, and Conducting From The Grave are teaming up for a US tour this December. We are beyond stoked for our first headlining tour in support of Starve for the Devil and hope to see you at one (or more) of the tour dates. We promise to 'turn up the hell' on this one and make your weekend (or week night) one that is 'rock hard' and metalificated."

Tour dates are as follows:

12/01/10 Championship Bar & Grill - Trenton, NJ
12/02/10 Evening Star Music Hall - Niagara Falls, NY
12/03/10 Pirates Cove - Cleveland, OH

Napalm Death - European Tour With Immolation And Macabre

Official press release

After releasing the stunning Time Waits For No Slave album via Century Media Records in 2009, British grindcore gods Napalm Death have been busy travelling around the globe to massively promote the album live. So the band has announced that they will be embarking on a headlining tour of Europe this November, along with Macabre, Immolation and Waking The Cadaver.

Vocalist Barney Greenway checks in with the following update: "Having just returned from a string of dates in Thailand, Australia and Japan, it's a great feeling to know that Napalm is able to get out far and wide. Despite the fact that Napalm has trail-blazed across the world, I still hope next year there will be a few new places that we can set foot in where other bands just don't go. That's still a great source of excitement.

Back in Europe, we're pleased to be coming back on tour again in November. There are old mates in Macabre and Immolation especially, and so it'll be good to round off the touring for Time Waits... with a real blowout amongst friends. We'll be turning the setlist on it's head, I think, so expect a few things you haven't heard perhaps from the mists of time. Hopefully we'll know what the fuck we are doing when we come to play all that stuff.

Which leads us into a new album, which we'll begin to piece together in January next year. Expect even more short, sharp shocks from what Shane and Mitch have told me so far on the music front, and lots of stop-start spontaneity. No finished lyrics as yet - I'm waiting with baited breath on the first nasty-sounding MP3 roughs so I can lock myself away and get going."

01.10. Athens - Ann Club (Greece)
02.10. Lichtenfels - Way of Darkness Festival (Germany)
03.10. Essen - Death Feast Ultimate @ Turock (Germany)
22.10. Birmingham - Supersonic Festival (Great Britain)

Napalm Death with Immolation, Macabre, Waking The Cadaver

06.11. Berlin - SO36 (Germany)
07.11. Drachten - Iduna (Netherlands)
08.11. Hannover - Bei Chez Heinz (Germany)

Skeletonwitch - N. American Skullsplitter Tour With Withered, Landmine Marathon

On the heels of their show-stealing performances last month on Ozzfest's second stage, Ohio's Skeletonwitch have announced a fall headlining tour. The North American Skullsplitter Tour 2010 will see the blackened-thrash animals supported by labelmates Withered and Landmine Marathon.

Skeletonwitch's Scott Hedrick commented: "We live for the road, so after six weeks of writing the next record, it's going to be great to get back on the stage, basement floor, your mother's house... whatever! Perhaps we'll break out some new tunes. We'll definitely break out some beers! It's also killer to tour with two other Prosthetic bands. Keeping it in the family!"

Singer/guitarist Mike Thompson from Withered, who will be joining the run late due to touring commitments with Danzig, added: "We are really looking forward to the dates we're doing with our friends Skeletonwitch. It's been a few years since we've gone out with them, so we've got a lot of ridiculousness to make up for. Life never ceases to surprise."

Landmine Marathon's Ryan Butler commented: "We're ecstatic to be touring with our friends in Skeletonwitch. It's gonna be an absolute blast. We're also extremely excited to be hitting a lot of cities that Landmine has never played before and looking forward to gaining fans and friends in those areas. A very metal time will be had by all!"

Whitesnake - Keyboardist Quits To Pursue Solo Career

After seven years in the band, keyboard player Timothy Drury thought the time was right to quit Whitesnake and pursue a solo career. Here's his farewell letter:

"For over seven years now I have been fortunate enough to travel the world, to play and sing my heart out and to share the stage with David Coverdale as a part of Whitesnake. During that time I have been inspired and filled with such a great sense of the beauty that the world has to offer and also with the joy that music can bring to an audience. More than ever, I see the value of what I can express as a composer and producer, photographer, songwriter, singer... as an artist. That is why I must now say my goodbyes to you all and take my leave to pursue some very important creative projects that have been brewing for some time now.

For those of you who have gone to my sites and commented on my work as a visual artist and as a composer, I hope you have sensed how deliberate and passionate I am about interpreting what I see and feel. There are some great new opportunities for me to do that now and the time has come to focus on using my gifts to the fullest extent possible.

Of course I would love to continue to experience the world with Whitesnake and I will miss DC and the guys and the venues and audiences terribly, but I think I would be remiss if I didn't follow my instincts and my heart at this moment.

I have nothing but gratitude for the time I've spent with DC and all of the other incredible players I've had the good fortune to work with in this band since 2003. I've learned so much from DC and this experience, about following one's heart, about being authentic, about never letting fear prevent one from pursuing one's destiny. It's a fitting tribute to him that I must now practice what I have learned and really concentrate on living my life as the artist I was destined to be.

I wish David Coverdale and the new band all the very best as they bring the new record to life in the studio and later when they bring it to you all, live in 2011. Thanks so much to DC and the band and to all the smiling, appreciative fans around the world!!!"

Whitesnake singer David Coverdale commented: "We are sad to lose such a valued member of the band, but, we understand, support and sincerely wish Timothy every success in his solo career & thank him for a great, fun journey together."

At this time Whitesnake is focusing on finishing the new studio album before seeking a replacement keyboard player.

MaYaN - New Band Feat. Epica, Ex-After Forever, Pestilence Members

Epica vocalist/guitarist Mark Jansen has started a new project called MaYaN. The following statement regarding the band has been posted on Epica's website:

"Although Epica has been touring around the world for months, Mark found the time to put another band together, which he takes very seriously: MaYaN. Mark founded MaYaN together with Jack Driessen (ex-After Forever) and Frank Schiphorst, named after the wise and rich mayan culture.

"There was only one record label we wanted to sign with: Nuclear Blast, so we didn't even look for other companies to work with and we're very happy that this appreciation is mutual", Mark says and announces: "The debut album will be recorded and mixed at the end of the year 2010 and the beginning of 2011 by Sascha Paeth (who produced the former Epica records as well). We're also stoked to announce that Jeroen Paul Thesseling (Pestilence, Obscura), known for his signature six-string fretless playing in progressive death metal, will join as permanent member on bass guitar. Isaac Delahaye (Epica, ex-God Dethroned) and Arien van Weesenbeek (Epica) will complete the line up!"

The release of the album will take place around May 2011 and the CD presentation will be at Paradiso - Amsterdam! The music is a mixture of death, black and progressive metal combined with symphonic orchestral arrangements. "We'll work with some very interesting guests and these will be announced very soon!"

Textures - New Keyboardist

Textures is proud to announce the addition of new keyboard and sample-maestro Uri Dijk to their line-up.

This past summer Uri helped out by filling in on keyboards at the band's festival appearances. During the rehearsals and live shows there was a strong personal and musical connection between Uri and the band members of Textures, which made the band decide to ask Uri to join Textures as a full member. Uri gladly accepted, which means Textures is a 6-piece again after a small period being without a keyboard player.

Uri comments about joining Textures: "First of all I am honored to have been asked to join Textures. This is an opportunity that doesn't come along every day, and let's be honest, how could I refuse. Getting to know the guys in the past few weeks has shown me that the spirit of Textures is as much alive as ever and that this is just an amazing group of friends who have worked very hard to bring mind-blowing music to the world. I feel privileged to be able to become a part of this and I am happy the band is now complete again. I hope I can bring as much atmosphere and musicality to the band and its music as Richard did. We are back in business!"

Textures had the following to say about Uri joining the band: "To see Richard leave shortly after the departure of Eric, was quite a blow for us. Richard was a part of the band from the beginning, so it would feel pretty weird to fit a new person in that role. But after Uri joined us to help us out for the live shows it felt really good to have a well skilled person on keys again. It was such a good experience with Uri that we couldn't see ourselves moving on without him. Uri is more than a well skilled synth-maestro and besides an amazing guy to be around. We are very glad that Uri accepted the position and we are working very hard to write new material. We are working on taking it to the next level, so be ready!!"
