Old Man's Child - Working On New Material

Tom Rune Andersen, known by his stage name Galder, has announced the revival of Old Man's Child after parting ways with Dimmu Borgir last August (read here). The Norwegian symphonic black metal band is set to perform live for the first time in 26 years and is currently working on their first new material since 2009.

Galder offered the following update on the status of Old Man's Child: "First OMC rehearsals in years! Feels good! I know some people are curious about who is playing what etc. so a little update. Since we haven't been on stage for 26 years(!) we have to make the best of it. Flying people in from across the world etc`. is simply not an option at this time, so I will work with local people I know and/or have worked with before.

I will also most likely bring in some vocal help (Born Of The Flickering style) but will still do some vocals my self so I can focus on doing my thing on stage. This is not to be mixed up with OMC studio recordings as that is a different matter. Going to be careful about announcing any musicians names here as this may change. However I can confirm that Tjodalv (ex-Dimmu Borgir, Susperia, Abyssic, Thyruz and more) will be returning and playing the drums this summer."

Announced performances so far include Sweden Rock Festival, Tons Of Rock, and Hellsinki Metal Festival.

Last I heard Barker wasn't doing so great health wise, but that was probably a couple years ago. Hope things turned around for him. Excited to hear some new OMC regardless!

I am probably missing something, but there is nothing in this Facebook post suggesting that he's writing new material. Live gigs are still great news though.
