He kinda has a point, at least in general consensus - if you check the top 20s, only from this decade onwards we finished some years with records below the 8s there, and even the tops average score must have lowered.

yeah 2024 definitely was better. There were some good albums during the covid era. Haven't seen lean years like that since 1992-94 for metal (again still good albums in there, but not many compared to other eras)

A rough start for the decade ?? 2021 was my favourite since I joined MS in 2015.

Even 2024 was a really solid year, seems like the 2020s are picking up some steam
