Why? Fanboy-ism. Mental cinema. Supersonic journeys over snowy plains.
2. Children Of Bodom - Hate Crew Deathroll
3. Kalmah - Seventh Swamphony
This is easily the best MD album of the 2010s. Kalmah tends to be hit or 'meh' and this one totally hits the spot. Full speed agression and melody is blended with rarely seen skill, and is perfected by the decision to end the album on the high-note, midtempo hymn that is 'The Trapper'.
4. Kalmah - 12 Gauge
Splendid symbiosis of aggression and melody, epic hooks, the first three tracks blow away every other melodeath album.
5. Blood Stain Child - Idolator
6. Norther - N
7. Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done
DT at their most melodic, and one of their most highly regarded albums.
8. In Flames - Clayman
9. Dark Age - Dark Age
10. Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
The album that got me into melodeath, blending ingenious neoclassical melodies with technical madness without ever sound chaotic. On a second list though, Tägtgren put too much of his signature sound in the mix.
11. Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos
12. Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Timeless classic.
13. Be'lakor - Stone's Reach
Massive, atmospheric, slightly progressive. The follow-up is but a cheap copy of this one, whatever people say, there is only one "Countless Skies".
14. In Flames - Whoracle
15. Pain Confessor - Incarcerated
Breakthrough of a formerly unremarkable band, with a striking Insomnium influence, bashing even Insomnium itself.
16. Kalmah - Swampsong
17. Dark Tranquillity - We Are The Void
18. Dimension Zero - This Is Hell
19. Blood Stain Child - Mozaíq
20. Dissection - Reinkaos
21. Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe
22. In Flames - Reroute To Remain
23. Norther - Death Unlimited
24. Amorphis - Elegy
25. Children Of Bodom - Hatebreeder
26. Scar Symmetry - Dark Matter Dimensions
