Ranking some of the albums I got this year. I will return to edit accordingly with my favorites. Thumbs up if you concur.

1. Mastodon - Once More 'Round The Sun
These guys just keep getting quirkier and more intricate with every release. Still my favorite band no matter what the direction they'll go in next.
2. Allegaeon - Elements Of The Infinite
A technical and melodic masterpiece. It's a wonder these guys aren't bigger than they are. One of the best up-and-coming American metal bands.
3. Ne Obliviscaris - Citadel
A beautifully crafted experience. Not a big fan of where Opeth is going nowadays, so it's nice to hear a band take up the extreme prog flag.
4. Mors Principium Est - Dawn Of The 5th Era
At The Gates' album was here, but after numerous listens, I believe this album tops it in every way. Melodeath done right.
5. Scar Symmetry - The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)
I could listen to this album every day and never get tired of it. Well maybe a little. But its freakin' good (and catchy!).
6. Falconer - Black Moon Rising
Riffs, riffs, and more riffs, this band just knows how to blend it all together. Power metal just the way I like it.
7. Fallujah - The Flesh Prevails
This one really surprised me. With a metalcore backlog, I never even considered this band relevant. What they made here is an intense journey for the ears.
8. Behemoth - The Satanist
Leaning more towards the art aspect of their music than the death metal aspect. But still as heavy, dark, and punishing as they have ever been.
9. Equilibrium - Erdentempel
Folky and epic, like a theme to the next big RPG. A great quest to find great loot. That sounds nerdy as hell.
10. Abysmal Dawn - Obsolescence
Straight up, no-frills solid death metal. (Misery Index disappointed me so this was the next best thing)
