Vordven

100% agreed with this.

Yes, nice idea for a list, I agree. Good to see Disembowelment, a totally classic album.

These are my suggestions (8+ albums):
- Atoma (8/10, atmospheric post) (like Fradd says)
- Aquilus (10/10, neoclassical black/folk) (like Fradd also says)
- Caladan Brood (just for mz and all other haters ) (9/10, epic/atmospheric black)
- Dordeduh (mentioned before, I know) (9/10, black/folk)
- Enshine (8/10, atmospheric gothic/doom)
- Ixion (seeing as their 2nd album apparently isn't getting released this year, after all...) (9/10, atmospheric doom)
- Midnight Odyssey (8/10, atmospheric/ambient black)
- Nasheim (9/10, atmospheric black)
- Progenie Terrestre Pura (9/10, ambient/Industrial black)
- Rise of Avernus (8/10, gothic/doom)
- Sadness (9/10, avantgarde gothic/death/doom)
- Slumber (9/10, melodic (death) doom)
- Uaral (10/10, folk doom)
- Ved Buens Ende (9/10, avantgarde black)
- Vallendusk (8/10, melodic black)
- Vordven (10/10, atmospheric/melodic black)
- Winter (8/10, death doom)
- Witherscape (8/10, progressive death)

Add those and you'll have my +1. Sure, a lot of suggestions but they're worth it.

Edit: Oh, I see you already have Slumber, Uaral, Ved Buens Ende, Vordven and Witherscape on your list, so ignore those.

Hmm, maybe I'm wrong, but a "one-album metal wonder" seems like it should be about bands that made great first albums and then either never produced again or lost their touch with music afterwards (at least according to a wide audience). Some people, for example, think Aevangelist and Fen really dropped the ball since their widely acclaimed debuts, so those were the kind of bands I would expect on a list like this. I find the list name kind of deceptive in that sense.

Except that a list like that wouldn't work since it's too subjective. It's much easier (and more justified because it's less subjective) to just make a list of bands that only released one great album.

In my opinion the list as it is currently is much better than how you thought it would be, so only featuring bands that released one album.

He said that he won't add an album released after 2010 unless band disbanded + some bands are already here + Sadness has more than one album.

My bad. I guess I'm so fixated on Sadness' debut that I somehow thought it's their only album, haha.

I already pointed out that 5 of my suggestions are already on the list, though.

Well, this is lame. Quite a few of my suggestions were from 2010 and onwards. Can't say I agree with that rule (even though I understand why you came up with it), because there are also bands from before 2010 that can release an album this year or the next. For example, ColdWorld is planning on releasing another album either this year or in 2015, which results in you deleting ColdWorld's album from the list. What I'm getting at is: why not just include all bands that only have one album? And when a 2nd album is announced/released, just delete the debut from the list. Of course, this is just a suggestion. It's your list after all.

Hmm, I'm not sure it's too subjective to say that there are "one-album metal wonders". I think there's a general consensus in any metal community about these kinds of things, just as there is a general consensus on whether an album is "great". Your idea in no way bypasses any issues of subjectivity that might arise.

I made the comment because the title is deceptive. It's a great list, so don't get me wrong. But surely there must be a better way of articulating it without bringing up connotations of "one hit wonders", because that's not what we're actually discussing here. We are interested in bands that made one great album.

Elite
Pyrithion, Repugnant, Profundi, Vörnagar, Dead Silent Slumber, Five Pointe O, Lykathea Aflame, Sothis are ones I have in my collection.

Agents Of Oblivion doesn't count on this list as they were not metal.

You should add Taranis to this list as well. It is a fantastic display of extreme progressive metal, and although it is a 2012 album, Attila Bakos himself states about the album (via http://www.attilabakos.com/#about):
Quote:
In the following years I finally managed to record four old Taranis songs I composed back in 2000 which I released in 2012 on an album entitled "Kingdom". It's basically a statement about my life, the way I see and feel things. It received very good reviews, even got a Metal Storm award. However, it was also a closure. I felt that I didn't need to split my creativity into a gentle and an aggressive form anymore, so I ended both Woodland Choir and Taranis. With time these paths merged and led to something new.

A very underrated gothic doom band hasn't been mentioned here: How Like a Winter. Their only album, ...Beyond My Grey Wake, came out back in 2003. It shows they are still active, but I believe they just didn't update the website.

Glad that Age Of Silence was mentioned here. Acceleration was a great album.

I'm afraid you're the only one who hasn't realized yet that this list is sorted alphabetically...

Hey Radu, your list may need more Carpathian Full Moon and Visceral Evisceration, but it definitely needs less Morbid Saint, less Miserere Luminis, less Isengard, less Funeral Mourning, less Dol Theeta and less Dusk.
