Yeah this from a cheap fast food chain up here too, nothing fancy. I remember when I was in high school I used to be able to get a coffee and a fritter for a toonie ($2).
Eating out is one thing, but even here or when last in the US (July) even the supermarket had me passing on items I normally wouldn't given a second thought about tossing in my cart.
Not to sound like a boomer, but back in my day... I didn't hear her fully and handed her a $10 bill. She repeated that it was $10.80 and I probably looked like I saw a ghost.
