The only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud.

This will always stand out among both Motörheads albums and in the Metal genre in general as one of the most influential albums of all time. Overkill sucks you dry from the first moment, yet creates new energy for you. Leaves you begging for mercy from the first second. Amazing, astouding, completely impossible to miss this record for Motörhead fans.

Monotonous and boring IMO

I've never gotten the hype around Motorhead. Image and attitude don't make for an outstanding band when creativity and imagination is lacking.

I would not call this monotonous or boring.
But I've never felt any love for their music either.

One of Motörhead's best, this is a seriously good headbanging classic, full of energy, with plenty of groovy hooks, a great flow, and most importantly lots of fun. I prefer this one slightly to Ace Of Spades, which are both amongst the most iconic metal albums ever, and much like that album this flows really well, and has plenty of decent tracks on it, but the title track is my favourite.

Whether you like this band or not, there's no denying that their trademark sound, and the great Lemmy's unmistakable vocals makes Motörhead an everlasting treasure in heavy metal.

Ace of Spades is great but personally I got a little bit tired of it whereas I can play Overkill over and over again.

Love Motorhead though. I think they were great right up to the bitter end. I'll forever kick myself for never going to see them live. They toured the UK nearly every year during the 90's and 00's and I think I just took it for granted I'd see them at some point but never did.

There is (apparently) a great tribute band called Motorheadache who are playing quite local to me at the end of the year so I think I'll trot along.

I would of loved to have seen them live, especially in their peak during the 80's, that is if I had been around then of course I've heard a few local bands cover some of their main hits, but a proper Motörhead tribute band would be a much better experience, and more enjoyable to see.

I agree. Ace of Spades is miles better and also Bomber. Then Bastards and Iron Fist and that's basically it for whole albums up to 1998.
Though title track is amazing.

I don't dispute the quality, but it just isn't to my liking. Tracks 2 to 10 are all too bluesy, boring and have repetitive lyrics. Last one Limb From Limb being the best of them.

Metal Rasputin
I had a dream last night where I listened to the most cliche Motörhead song imaginable called "Overkill of Spades" and after waking up felt instantly inspired to listen to this album again. Overkill is the definitive Motörhead album, I find every song memorable. Although the band had this negative image of making just the same thing over and over again, I think Lemmy's writing style actually feels more varied than what most metal bands put out, like not all of the songs are straightforward high octane rock'n'roll with blazing riffs and drum fills, but there are also chill, slower and bluesy songs, etc.
