It may be sound strange, but God only knows why Canada is a source of so many original Metal bands. I don't need to give names anyway, you all know of what I'm talking about, but today, one more time I took a slap in my face with an incredible newcomer, Augury. This real UFO, is one of the most original releases that I had to listen to lately, and even if this album was actually released in 2004, I hope that you'll have the possibility to find it, because for sure this is something great? And yes Cosmic Migration is one of the album's highlights, though I prefer The Lair Of Purity

8.5/10 leaning slightly towards a 9 I'd say. While the songwriting is a bit messy in places (a common trap a lot of Technical DM bands fall into IMO), the variation in dynamics is fantastic, making the album feel more like a journey and less of a 50-minute pummelling (I'm looking at you, Origin). Great stuff.

A very unique technical death metal album, it's very well constructed and has the perfect balance of complexity and melody, a real gem for sure. The female symphonic vocals add such an epic vibe the the whole thing, and without making it sound too corny either. The musicianship skills are great all round, from the crazy drumming, to the melodic riffing, from the insane lead guitar solo's, to the multi layered vocals, which are all great, but it's Lapointe's bass work that is clearly the outstanding highlight of the whole album for me.
