Angelus Apatrida - Sign Deal With Century Media Records

Century Media Records proudly announces the worldwide signing of the Thrash Metal band Angelus Apatrida, the most promising and threatening metal band from Spain.

This young commando was born in the Spanish town of Albacete in the year 2000 and perfectly combines both the aggression and the melodic edge of classic 80's Thrash Metal with a breathtaking modern southern fury that results in an impressive blend of rage, attitude and a high level of technical skills, rarely seen with young bands like this.

Angelus Apatrida comment on the signing as follows: "We are extremely enthusiastic about this opportunity to show around what we are made of! It's an honour for us to become part of the Century Media Records family, one of the labels with the best reputation worldwide and a home to some of the bands we admire the most and grew up listening to!"

Angelus Apatrida's band name mixes Spanish and Latin language and can be translated into english as "stateless" or "renegade" angels. Influenced by the early Bay Area Thrash Metal and N.W.O.B.H.M. scenes and more specifically bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Anthrax, Overkill, Pantera, Testament or Annihilator, Angelus Apatrida have crafted their career in their Spanish homeland so far with two independent album releases, Evil Unleashed (2006) and Give 'Em War (2007), as well as countless of live-appearances on larger national festivals (Lorca Rock, Alternavigo, Metalway Festival, etc.) and the clubs of most of the country's larger cities with acts like Barón Rojo, Destruction, Sepultura and many more.

Angelus Apatrida are currently finishing the songwriting process for their Century Media debut album, tentatively entitled Clockwork and to be recorded in January 2010. In the meantime, Angelus Apatrida will be supporting labelmates Arch Enemy on their upcoming dates in Spain and Portugal alongside Abigail Williams. Here are the exact dates:

Decapitated - New Line-Up Announced

Here's the official word from the band:

"Polish tech death metal masters Decapitated are finally back with a vengeance! After the band had to suffer tragic losses during the past two years, the last remaining founding member Vogg managed to put together a whole new line-up that will represent Decapitated in 2010 as powerful and brutal as they were ever before. To open that new chapter, Decapitated will embark on a co-headlining UK tour with fellow label mates Kataklysm in February 2010!

Commented Vogg: "Hello, what's up UK! As you all know, 2 years after the tragedies we had to suffer, I decided to continue the band. There's no sense in stopping this amazing thing we built up so many years ago together with Witek, Sauron, Martin and Covan. We chose to do our first tour in the UK because we have only good memories from this place and we are sure that you guys will support us... we need you!

I am very pleased to announce the new killer line-up of Decapitated: Kerim "Krimh" Lechner on drums - he's a new blood, very talented and used to play in bands like Thorns Of Ivy and Tone Intimacy. Amazing Rafał Piotrowski comes from bands like Ketha and Forgotten Souls and will take over vocal duties, where masterous Filip "Heinrich" Hałucha from Vesania, Rootwater, UnSun and Masachist will be destroying the bass!

See you all soon! We honestly can't wait!"

Decapitated/Kataklysm UK Tour:

01 Feb - UK - Birmingham - 02 Academy 2
02 Feb - UK - Glasgow - Ivory Blacks
03 Feb - UK - Manchester - Moho Live
04 Feb - UK - Bristol - Blerkeller
05 Feb - UK - Reading - Sub89
06 Feb - UK - Leeds - Rios
07 Feb - UK - Wrexham - Central Station
08 Feb - UK - London - 02 Academy Islington (without Kataklysm)

Orphaned Land - New Album Details Revealed

Original news, posted on 12.11.2009

Official press release

On January 25th, 2010 the time of wait is finally over! Israel's Orphaned Land will finally release their highly anticipated fourth studio opus The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR in Europe (January 27th in Japan and February 9th in the US). Mixed by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Opeth), who is also responsible for several keyboard parts on the new album, The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR turns out to be a sophisticated concept album taking Orphaned Land's unique brand of exotic, heavy music to soaring new heights in terms of complexity and catchiness. It is an audible manifest that the time has come for Middle Eastern metal to take over!

Vocalist Kobi Farhi comments on the album's concept and the striking new promo photo as follows: "As people that were born into the tragedy of our region, we have always been devoted to creating harmony between conflicts, a musical heaven on earth, a tango between God & Satan. Even in the album's artwork we combined Hebrew and Arabic, regardless of the fight between Jews and Muslims. I found a Jordanian guy, specialized in calligraphic artwork. He took letters from Hebrew and Arabic and moulded them in his art to create a symbol of peace. Same goes for our band photo, where we portrayed a synergy between the three monotheistic religions, that believe in the same God and yet, ridiculously have been killing each other for centuries "in the name of God" and turned the holy land into an orphaned land. Naturally we continued this idea of union on a musical level as well and the result is as always crazy, it's a miracle - in our concerts: our Jewish fans sing in Arabic and our Muslim fans sing in Hebrew, brave friendships have spawned and our Middle Eastern metal music destroys all this political witchcraft we have been trapped in for so long. This is a musical journey of hope in lands of war, creating heaven on earth, building a new Jerusalem."

Israel's Orphaned Land is probably the only band from this country that has managed to succeed at building up a huge following among Muslims and Arabian people. These fans communicate freely via the band's social networking pages, some of them even proudly bearing Orphaned Land tattoos, even though that puts them at huge risk in their home countries! The African musician Fela Kuti once said: "music is the weapon of the future" - Orphaned Land is the living proof of that!

Therion - New Album In The Making

Therion's webmaster has offered the following update:

"It has been a long time since you have heard anything new from Therion now, so I thought I should give a few updates.

As you may or may not know, Therion is in progress of recording a new album. As usual, Therion is being very secretive about the entire process, but I will reveal some details: a new studio has been built for most of the recording of this album. The mix, and a few recordings, will be done at another studio - "A truly legendary studio!" according to Chris. Expect something spectacular, even by Therion's standards!

The recording will continue for the rest of the year, and probably also through January."

The Old Dead Tree - Call It Quits

Season Of Mist press release

We are sorry to announce French goth metallers The Old Dead Tree decided to call it quits. Here is frontman Manuel's official statement:

"The Old Dead Tree is no more.

I wish I never had to write those words, but nothing is forever. These last few months, some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction in the making of our fourth album. Those differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem and led me to make the decision of ending the band's activities.

In twelve years of existence, The Old Dead Tree had its share of line-up changes. Of course, each of them has been an improvement, but they were also painful losses. And I do not want to face that kind of loss again. Be that as it may, I am still extremely proud of the work we have achieved and I want to thank all the people without whom nothing would have been possible: past and present band members with whom I learnt so much and had amazing times, our wonderful crew, our label Season of Mist, our tour booker K Productions, and especially the fans who supported us and encouraged us to go forwards. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours. This is now farewell."

Season of Mist thanks The Old Dead Tree for having created three great albums and wish its members good luck for the future. So long, guys!

De Profundis - Sign With Kolony Records

Official press release

London, UK-based progressive extreme metal band De Profundis have inked a deal with Kolony Records to release their second album "A Bleak Reflection" in Europe. The album was recorded in June/July 2009 with producer Fernando Pereira Lopes (Misanthrope, Orakle) and mastered by Tim Turan (Emperor, Opeth, Motörhead).

Commented the label: "Kolony Records are very proud of this signing and would like to welcome De Profundis to the label's roster. We were blown away by the band's musical style (an original mix of black-death-doom and, why not, some progressive metal) from the moment we listened to their promo. The guys showed a lot of professionalism during all our discussions and we were really impressed with the international live experience of De Profundis. The band has a proven track record when it comes to live performances, having landed high profile gigs with likes of Iron Maiden, Nevermore and Annihilator in both the UK and abroad. De Profundis has already performed in Greece, France, Portugal, Romania and India; the band is currently finalising plans to tour Europe on a wider scale during 2010. That's the kind of band we like to work with!"

De Profundis stated: "Right from the first communication, we have been very impressed by Kolony Records' professional and honest approach. Following countless emails and a face-to-face meeting with the label manager Lorenzo Marchello, we are confident that we have found the right label to release our new album and help De Profundis to reach the next level. We are very happy to be the part of the Kolony family and look forward to working with them for many years to come."

A Bleak Reflection will be released in Europe in the first week of February 2010 via Kolony Records and will come with a 12 page booklet, created by artist Darryll Jones, that hints at the concept behind the album's lyrics.

De Profundis guitarist Roman Subbotin commented: "the new album represents a significant moment for our musical evolution. We've all worked really hard and, in my humble opinion, achieved rather spectacular results."

Hypocrisy - Forced To Cancel N. American Tour

Hypocrisy have issued the following statement in regards to their tour with Ensiferum and their current troubles with U.S. immigration:

"We regretfully have to officially announce the cancelation of our tour in North America. We've tried everything so far and it seems like the process will take longer than expected for one of the members in the band. We will try to come back as soon as possible, as we want to show our US fans that we care for them and we are ready to play the new songs live!"

Previously Hypocrisy had been in holding mode, fully expecting to join the tour that was already in progress at a later date. In an earlier statement the band explained their situation:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are forced to stay home until U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services process and authorize our working visas. This is the first time the band has faced a situation like this and it's extremely frustrating, as well as depressing, since the last thing we want to do is disappoint our loyal fans who have waited years to see us live in the US. We filed for our visas with plenty of time, but as some probably don't know, the US government has changed its rules when it comes to visas issued to artists so it's become tougher. Even if we have already toured the US numerous times."

Hypocrisy had enlisted the help of Children Of Bodom guitarist/frontman Alexi Laiho to temporarily fill the vacant 2nd guitarist spot on this tour alongside Ensiferum, Ex Deo, Blackguard and Swashbuckle.

Svartthron - Two Demo Tracks Online

After releasing Bearer Of The Crimson Flame last summer, Lithuanian black metal band Svartthron didn't tumble into stagnation, but almost all year long nursed his new creation. The main founder of the band Tomhet made some essential changes in process of the band and invited some musicians known from other bands to join the new creation stage. New album will be called Kraujo Estetika (transl. "Blood Aesthetics") in which vocals are done by Levas (Andaja).

At the very beginning it was clear, that there will be no programmed drums in this release, so the seek for the live drummer who would like to colaborate with the album began. The search didn't went too long and drummer (Argharus) took the drum duties. Drum recordings were done in Unitedzeros studio. Furthermore the album "speaks" Lithuanian - all lyrics are done exceptionaly in Lithuanian language. Tomhet didn't limit himself only to these changes and invited Kommander L (Luctus, Fuck Off And Die!) to do some vocal parts in the album. It can be said that all the variations brought in novelty and freshness. Different sound and variety are guaranteed.

Despite all the member changes Svartthron will remain a non-concert band.

Two new demo songs can be found at the official Svartthron MySpace page.

Suffocation - New Video Online

Suffocation have uploaded a video clip for the track "Cataclysmic Purification". The footage was directed by David Brodsky (Arsis, God Forbid, Kataklysm, Swashbuckle), with animation by Tim Kellen. When asked about the new track and their soon to be released 6th full-length album Blood Oath, Suffocation bassist Derek Boyer stated:

"Cataclysmic Purification" audibly portrays a calamitous future approaching. With this song and the rest of the album I think we've maintained the musical integrity of the band while still having comprehensible brutality. Blood Oath combines straight forward crushing movements with unsuspecting twists that will certainly entertain everyone from the avid Suffocation listener to the 1st time innocent bystanders."
