Lonewolf - Sign With Karthago Records, New Album Details

Official press release

French true heavy metal squad Lonewolf have signed multiple record deal with the German label Karthago Records. Their brand new studio album "The Dark Crusade", will hit the streets on november 11, 2009.

"The Dark Crusade" is the next classic heavy metal release, that was mixed & mastered by the grammy nominated guitarist Andy La Rocque (known from cooperation with bands such as King Diamond, Hammerfall or Falconer), and produced by Bart Gabriel (editor in chief of the biggest polish rock/metal magazine Hard Rocker, who also produced releases of bands such as Crystal Viper, Sabbat or Kat).

The front cover artwork for the album was painted by Chris Moyen, the legendary french artist known from cooperation with bands such as Slayer, Trivium, Beherit and Blasphemy.

Some of the special guests appearing on the album are: Majk Moti (ex-Running Wild, now in Wild Knight), Jan Bunning (Paragon) and Marta Gabriel (Crystal Viper).

The album is promoted by a slogan "The reaper has returned to the black hand inn", as it was strongly inspired by the classic albums from cult acts such as Running Wild, Grave Digger, but also X Wild or U.D.O. And Accept.

People that heard the album state clearly: "... if you liked albums such as "Black Hand Inn" from Running Wild, "Tunes Of War" from Grave Digger" or U.D.O.'s "Solid", then you will love Lonewolf's "The Dark Crusade"!..."

Visions Of Atlantis - Bassist Leaves The Band

Austrian symphonic metallers Visions Of Atlantis have posted the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Hey Guys and Girls!

After 2 months without any message from the band here are some news wich may interest you.

First the most important thing: Our bassist Mike and his girlfriend will become parents very soon and we all want to wish them the best with their little rocker. But that leads directly to some bad news: Mike will leave the band and will take a baby-break from music so that he can focus on his new role as father a 100%.

We all understand his decison completely and so we had a last big party last weekend where we played a little gig with a handful of invited close friends to release Mike in his baby-break. If and when he will return to the band is completely unsure at the moment which is also clear and we (the whole Visions Of Atlantis family) hope that you out there will understand Mike and also wish him the best!

This will have no affect on the recording process for our forthcoming album, which leads me to the next hot news: Maxi Nil does a great job in singing in the stuff for pre-production and except some very little stuff and some last guitar details finally everything is recorded now and in November we'll enter the studio to record our fourth album finally.

Very soon we will announce the studio for our new recording and we also got a name for our fourth album, but this is still secret and just no secret within the band.

As soon as there are news and details about studio in November and all other things concering the band and what's going on with Visions Of Atlantis we'll be back with a new blog...

So stay tuned, because when we're in studio we'll keep you informed by every possible ways (video, studio-diary, pics, etc...) directly from the band.

Best wishes, and as promised... 2010 will be the year for Visions Of Atlantis as everything seems to turn out good finally!"

Al Jourgensen - To Release Pop Record

In a recent interview for the website Vampire Freaks, Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen announced that he is working on a pop record.

Yeah, exactly. And that's the great thing. I'm working on a solo album right now, for me? well, I guess that would be a solo album as it's explained. But it's complete fucking pop stuff. There's no metal, there's no politics, it's complete pop stuff! If you know my history, you know that first record on Arista (Records) that I fucking hate.

(...)

I hate it because I was told what to do, what to write, what to wear, what to look like, etc. Now, I'm going to finally do a pop album. It's really good pop -I'm working with Mark Thwaite (former guitarist for Peter Murphy and the UK Mission). We've crafted this unbelievable pop album which is going to leave people scratching their heads and saying 'He's a sellout! He's an asshole!' Well, I'm not a sellout because I don't need to do this anymore, I've just always wanted to do an album of pop that I wanted to do, not that other people wanted to do. And so we're doing it. I don't give a fuck if it sells ten copies, I don't give a fuck if it sells a million copies; it doesn't matter to me. That's not important.

When asked what the new project would sound like, Al's response was:

Alright, here's a clue. Do you remember THE THE? It's real similar to that. (...) I was a big fan of Matt Johnson's, right up until he died and it's kind of a tribute to that period. That mid-eighties period where there was some really good synth-pop shit that wasn't written by the labels or like MILLI VANILLI or whatever, MINISTRY for that matter. This is the stuff that was meant to be. FAD GADGET is another example of what this solo album is going to sound like.

In related news, Jourgensen also confirmed that new Lard, Pailhead and Buck Satan albums are in the pipeline.

Shadow Gallery - New Album Details Revealed

Shadow Gallery, widely considered a major and innovative force within the realms of progressive rock and metal, have returned with their 6th studio effort "Digital Ghosts". Following up 2005's "Room V" as well as the "Prime Cuts" compilation release of material from previous albums in 2007, "Digital Ghosts" will be released on October 26th, 2009 in Europe and November 3rd, 2009 in North America via InsideOutMusic.

After the tragic passing of lead singer Mike Baker in October 2008, "Digital Ghosts" introduces new lead singer Brian Ashland and not only sees the entire band once again sharing additional vocal duties but also features guest vocal appearances by Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) and Clay Barton (Suspyre) to compliment the release. With "Digital Ghosts", Shadow Gallery's members Brendt Allman, Carl Cadden-James, Gary Wehrkamp, new addition Brian Ashland and returning drummer Joe Nevolo (who appears on two songs of the record) have focused their powerful energies on creating a seamless blend of progressive, metal, and symphonic rock as a transcendent work of musical art that advances the boundaries of these genres into new directions.

Guitarist/keyboardist Gary Wehrkamp comments on "Digital Ghosts" as follows: "As a band, we are thrilled to have new music to share with everyone. This album is a dedication to our wonderful fans, and also to the memory of our singer and friend Mike Baker. We had to deal with a few tragic events during the course of this recording, but pressing on we approached the production the way we always do: Trying to provide our very best. We had a terrific time making this record and hope all the emotion and love we put into it endures, transcends and touches every one who is ready for it.

You can expect some shades of a new direction on this record. We had long been trying to incorporate more prog elements and the time was right to stretch out a little bit, while remaining true to the heavy and powerful rock based songs that have been a staple of Shadow Gallery since the earliest days".

"Digital Ghosts" cover art] tracklist:

01. With Honor
02. Venom
03. Pain
04. Gold Dust
05. Strong
06. Digital Ghost
07. Haunted

Two small first video teasers for "Digital Ghosts" can be viewed on the band's YouTube channel. More details as well as music samples for "Digital Ghosts" will be available in the coming weeks.

Suicidal Angels - Win Rock The Nation Award And Sign With Nuclear Blast

Suicidal Angels have issued the following statement:

"We are more than happy and proud to announce that we won the Rock The Nation Award 2009 and sign a deal with Nuclear Blast. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everybody that voted for us and of course good luck to all the bands that participated in this contest!

Our new album "Sanctify The Darkness" will be out on the 20th of November so stay tuned for more infos and as always prepare yourselves to be thrashed!"

Below you can read the official statement of Rock The Nation:

"The winner takes it all", true to the motto Rock The Nation appealed to a band contest of a particular kind. The Austrian management and booking company takes care of the needs of such bands as Deathstars, Legion Of The Damned, Sabaton, Behemoth, Kataklysm, Leaves' Eyes and Eluveitie. They offered a lucrative all inclusive package for the winner, with a long term labeldeal with Boomer Entertainment and the leading heavy metal company Nuclear Blast Records (Nightwish, Hammerfall, Testament, Dimmu Borgir and many more), and them of course.

This unique competition was presented by all leading European metal magazines, like the German, Italian, Spanish and Greek Metal Hammer, the British Terorizer, Metallian (France), Scream (Norway), Rock Tribune (Belgium), Spark (Czech Republic), and the Dutch webzine Lordsofmetal.nl.

"This high interest blew all our expectations", says Rock The Nation boss Stefan Hattinger. More than 1.200 bands from all over the world applied, hundreds of thousands votes have been counted. "It made the RTN-Award a tremendous success and proves that this is what the bands have been waiting for."

The 100 best votings were then judged by an inner circle composed of members from Rock The Nation, Boomer Entertainment and Nuclear Blast. In the end there wasn't only one, but two winners! Suicidal Angels from Greece and Steelwing from Sweden. "We love those two bands so much, that we couldn't decide us against one of them, so we had to make two winners", says Hattinger.

Regardless of the experts opinion, both acts were under the top ten of the fan votings and finally conviced with their unique and overwhelming songwriting. They simply made it! "Both bands really deserve our biggest respect, it would be cool if everybody out there sends his and her congrats & comments. Add them to your friends and see what will happen with both bands in the coming months", says Hattinger with big plans in mind. The greek Thrash metal formation Suicidal Angels play a merciless riff massacre and a perfect mix of old Kreator and Sepultura like sounds.

Nominon - Part Ways With Vocalist, Studio Update

Swedish metallers Nominon have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Greetings people, fans and fiends of the Grotesque.

We're now almost done with the drum tracks at the renowned Necromorbus Studios. It all sounds massive and rotten, there's just no other way! The drum room starts to reek of Perras creativity and I guess he soon for sure are worthy of his price, it comes bottled from Scotland! Mixed with Atlanta/Georgias pride: Coca Cola, he'll enjoy the rest of his time in the studio!

We have some news from the tomb for you all! The drums are now done and put on tape, I guess, 'cause why else would Perra be sitting here beside me, the editor of death, and enjoying his whiskey and coke?

Today the tormented voice of Juha has ended up on a couple of songs too, yes, that means we've started to record the vokills, it all sounds really promising. We can't wait to let you guys and gals listen to this! And by now you should all understand that Daniel is not participating on this recording or the future of Nominon!

Enjoy the mutilation!"
