Peccatum - Comes To An End

The band posted the following message on their official website:

"After eight years of creating within the borders of Peccatum, Ihsahn and Ihriel have decided to go elsewhere with their music. Ihsahn is going solo and Ihriel will continue her work in Star of Ash. They both still run Mnemosyne productions and Symphonique Studio, and will definitely continue to explore the outer boundaries of dark music in many years to come - 'To boldly go where no man has gone before'. Ihriel and Ihsahn would like to take the opportunity to thank all Peccatum fans and listeners, and hope they will find equal pains and pleasures in their new musical endeavours."

Into Eternity - Original Drummer To Record New CD

Guitarist Tim Roth posted the following message on Into Eternity's website:

"Hi everyone,

The new album is still underway for us. Right now we are looking at 11 songs for the new album. Each song is a bit more compact compared to what we usually have done in the past. Seven of the songs clock in at just over 3 minutes. I thought it would be different to try to fit in multiple time changes and riffs/solos in a shorter time frame. I know I have a low attention span when it comes to long songs, movies or whatever the case may be, so it is a small change for us. Every song is going to still have a lot going on, so our style will still be intact.

Now on to the main reason for this update. Into Eternity would like to welcome back our original drummer Jim Austin, who will be playing on our new record. Everybody is familiar with Jim's drumming style from our albums "Into Eternity" , "Dead or Dreaming" and "Buried In Oblivion". We are all happy that Jim is willing to help us out with this new record.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we should point out that this arrangement is just for the recording of the album. Jim has a good job now that we wouldn't want him to lose. I think that this will be a good step for us and it will help maintain our sound that we have crafted for almost 10 years now."

Insomnium - To Record New Album

Insomnium posted the following update on theri official website:

"Finnish metallers Insomnium are about to invade the the Fantom studio in the beginning of April to record a new album. Some crystal clear and yet brutal sounds are to be expected since Fantom is the name behind some of the best albums ever produced in Finland. The songs which are to be recorded include such dreary titles as "At the Gates of Sleep", "The Mortal Share", "Drawn to Black" and "The Killjoy". The new material is clearly more aggressive, punchy and tighter than the previous album but the melancholic mood, wistful melodies, doomish passages and progressive twists are still present. "For sure this is going to be our greatest effort so far", tells vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen. "This will be a very versatile album and each song will be full of nuances. There is fury and there is sorrow. Scandinavian melodic death metal at its finest!" Insomnium's third album is released in autumn 2006 by Candlelight Records."

Eternal Tears Of Sorrow - New Album Almost Ready

Check out the latest studio report from Eternal Tears Of Sorrow:

"What a ride this has been. We started writing material for this album in late October 2004, that's 16 months ago. And now, we're finally here. The mastering sessions are taking place today, and the artwork for the album will be finished within a week, too.

Still, you and we have to wait for eight more weeks. That's when the album comes out. But compared to the 16 months we've already spent on this album, 8 weeks is practically nothing, isn't it?"

Pain Of Salvation - New Album; Bassist Search

The upcoming Pain Of Salvation album will be entitled "Scarsick", the album will be recorded in the coming months, Daniel describes it as: "much more band oriented and down to the core. Threatening and disturbing". A fragment of the cover art was also revealed, you can see it here.

In other news, the band posted the following tips for the bass players who might apply to the position:

"The premises:
1. You are a very, very good bass player that masters slapping/tapping/finger/pick on both fretted and fretless 6-string basses.
2. You are a fast learner with a very good ear.
3. You have a good voice with a decent range and are used to singing harmonies.
4. You are driven and responsible and can learn the earlier albums basically on your own.
5. You live in Sweden, or maybe you are so rich that you can take a private jet there two or three times a week. In any case, there will basically be rehearsals that often, and you need to be able to be there somehow.
6. You are a nice girl or a boy of say 20-35 that loves music in many forms.
7. You don't do drugs, and you are very restrictive with alcohol (never a drop before a show).

The bonuses:
8. You feel at home on stage and can spend tons of energy without having your playing suffer.
9. You have a driver's license.
10. You take an interest in world issues and politics. You probably think that Gandhi's march for salt or his burning of passports were braver political actions than Bush's war on terror.
11. You look cool.

So, is this you, or anyone you know? In that case, you are welcome to introduce yourself to us, preferrably with some photos and sound samples. As already mentioned, we are in the process of recording the next album and we will most likely not bring a new member in before this album is done. However, we said the same thing back in 1998 but then we found Johan, so you never know...

To/Die/For - Part Ways With Guitarist

A message by To/Die/For was posted in their official Forum explaining the situation about the guitarist Mika Ahthiainen:

"Hello all,

with sad hearts To/Die/For has had to let their guitarist Mika "Alli" Ahtiainen go.

After playing and touring together for years, it just became obvious that we needed to go our separate ways. This was a decision Alli and To/Die/For made together and we hope you will respect our decision.

There is no big drama involved, nor is there anyone to blame. Sometimes things just go the way they need to go and the inevitable must be faced.
What had to be done, is now done and we must continue on our own paths and see where the road will take its travellers.

This is not easy for anybody to comprehend or accept at this point, we know that, but let's try and not make these times any harder than they already are for anyone of us. To make things calmer and easier To/Die/For must also state that they are NOT looking for any replacement guitarists at this point. They will proceed with the recordings of their fifth album as planned.

To/Die/For wishes all the best to Alli, as does Alli for To/Die/For and TDF fans.

After Forever - Clears Up Departure From Label

After Forever posted the following message in their website:

"Today, record company Transmission send a press release in which several factual errors occur.

Transmission reports that they are putting an end to the cooperation with After Forever. This decision however, had earlier already been made by the band by not accepting Transmission's offers to extend the contract or to renew it.

After Forever found it was time for a cooperation with a new partner. Most important reasons for this decision are Transmission's approach to promotion and marketing, especially abroad.

Also, in the last period of time, Transmission's support and involvement had been minimal.

The recent European tour (January) made this clear to us once again with relation to press promotion and local supply of CD's. Also, the two year old pictures send with this latest press release is evidence of no real involvement with the band.

After Forever will be playing at several festivals in Belgium, Luxemburg and The Netherlands. In the second half of this year, they will also tour through Latin America again, like they did in 2005. Next to several venues and clubs, the band will perform at three large festivals in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Mexico City.

For our fans, we think it is good to know that several large labels, both national and international, have shown interest in a cooperation with After Forever.

Therefore, we can only conclude that Transmission is a bad loser."
