Former Pantera bassist Rex Brown, now with a solo band, has announced to "Whiplash", a Full Metal Jackie hosted radio show, that he will release a covers album as the follow-up to his debut album, Smoke On This which was released this year. Brown fronts the band and also plays guitar and bass on the album.

Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons, led by the legendary long time Motörhead guitarist, have released a live video for their cover of the Hawkwind classic "Silver Machine" (featuring original Hawkwind member Dave Brock), honoring Campbell's long-time friend and companion, the late Lemmy Kilmister. According to TMZ, the late Warrant frontman's managers - Just Having Fun Productions - filed a suit claiming Jani's estate has yet to pay them some hefty commissions. According to the suit, the managers engineered a deal to sell a chunk of Jani's music to a publishing company. Lane died in August 2011 from alcohol poisoning at age 47.
