Might I ask how The Art Of Dying ended up here? I'd say that it's one of the lesser albums by old thrash bands.

Simple, because together with Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned it is easily the very best of the previous by old and new thrash bands alike.
Together with Strapping Young Lad - SYL and Meshuggah - Nothing of course. And SYL and Nothing are thrash albums albeit not your normal standard thrash.

Agreed. I think "The Art Of Dying" is an awesome album. Like Tempo, it manages to be slightly modern whilst still retaining everything that made them such a great band in the first place. Which is a very hard thing to achieve.

Quite a few surprises here actually. Textures, Baroness, Hollenthon, Agalloch, Nevermore, Gojira - I didn't even know you listened to half of those bands Marcel, let alone liked one of their releases enough to put in a top 50 of the decade list.

Same goes for Baroness imo.
Anyways... Yesterday I blasted the shit out of Things Viral with my friends while smoking hookah and holy fucking shit... That album still has the same effect on me as the very first time I listened to it. I have to make my review someday. But now I enjoy it in a morbid kind of way while the first time It was sort of batshit terror.
I'm pretty sure I'd go all fanboy with the review though.

Will you ever be doing a 90's equivalent?
I am thinking about it.

I have both my 50 best of 00's and 90's still in the working process. I wonder if I would ever get it done.

I am also thinking of one for the Eighties. But both that one and the Nineties are still works in progress.

i'll push out a 90's one as well, should be fun... if heavily stacked towards a couple years out of the decade.

... Paradox's Collision Course, Absu's Tara, Cautiva's Human and Mekong Delta's Lurking Fear should all be in there. Cause I know you would not put Municipal Waste's Art Of Partying, Skeletonwitch's Beyond The Permafrost and Toxic Holocaust's Evil Never Dies. But The rest, it should be there lolll apart from that, awesome list Marcel.

Didn't know you liked Meshuggah... interesting.
Also why does everyone prefer Things Viral over Clean Hands Go Foul? In my opinion the latter is far superior

I have to be honest: I don't know (the music of) a lot of these albums/bands. But I'm definitely going to check a lot of them out.
On a side note, why don't you have Giving Yourself Away in this list instead of Reason? I can remember you said you liked Reason less, so why is it in this list?

Marcel, not trying to be annoying here, but I also remember you telling me at Dordrecht Doom Day III that you think The Sullen Sulcus is MB's best album! I definitely agree with this, but then why is Dust on this list?

becasue at the time of compiling this list I thought Dust was better, simple
As for Reason vs Giving Yourself Away I have Always prefered Reason.

I see, but why not update it then? Although on the other hand I understand not everyone likes to update their lists so often as me.
Weird that I remember you saying Reason is OT's weakest album... not sure when or "where" you said this though. That being said, I think Reason is OT's best album, having heard everything by them now (except for a few EP's).

Because Things Viral is superior. I consider it to have a far better and interesting songwriting, sound and atmosphere. I still like the last one though but it just continues what they already did with Things Viral and Capture & Release.
Also... Everyone? I mostly see reviews bashing it or saying that anything else was better.

Although Clean Hands Go Foul was released as their latest it was written way before Things Viral

just grabbed the booklet and apparently I am mistaken cause it says the material was created in 05-06 & 08.
Then the source I got the information from concerning that Clean Hands was way older material was totally wrong.

I'd have Axioma Ethica Odini in there as one of the Enslaved albums but you can tell me to go jump because this isn't my list.
