Yes, they are nu-metal but musically they are superior to most bands playing at Wacken.

If I haven't heard it, it's news to me! Marcel, I might add your contempt for the WOA to the biggest drama category.

If Ill Nino were to be announced for Hellfest I would also put them high up there. SO this has nothing to do with my contempt of all things Wacken. You people actually have no idea how low I hold Wacken. Like I said earlier the only good thing about Wacken is that they support local bands.

Nothing wrong with Ill Niño IMHO. Nice to see some quality nu metal bands still being alive after the hype has died down.

Ill Niño were at the first metal show (of established bands, not local bands) I ever saw... along with Chimaira and Spineshank.

Two new confirmations: Smoke Blow (German punk) and Hanggai. And that latter one is quite, uh, interesting.

Well this is weird, Snakebite was on this page for like 5 months now, and only now they appeared on Wacken's bands page as the metal battle winner of Germany

Well, you do know folk metal is immensely hot in the live circuit recently, right? It seels out every single venue it is programmed in, no matter how crap the band is.

I have come across that matter, yes. Seems the two of us are in agreement here. I'll certainly mark that day in my calendar
And as far as the whole folk metal thing goes, I don't think it would be half as annoying if it didn't become increasingly difficult to see a good band live and enjoy the whole concert without either a metalcore or a folk band opening. Or both, as in case of Kreator, Caliban and Eluveitie.

Well some bad news for the those who had plans to see Primal Fear at Wacken...they have cancelled the concert and below you can read the official statement that they've posted at their official site.
Dear Metalheads, we are very sorry having to announce that Primal Fear will not play at this years Wacken Open Air festival. Due to an important private appointment, it is impossible for the band to appear. But both Primal Fear and The W:O:A Team wil ltry to make up for Wacken Open Air 2011.''

It is almost too obvious. Marcel, if you read this, this is your chance
Today they confirmed Frei.Wild. Their latest worthless hype nobody cared for since 2001. Keep it up long enough, give them enough stage-appearance, maybe some airplay and eventually the people will surrender and start buying. If only to make it stop...

Actually the hype is not only about Frei.Wild, but about any band associated with Böhse Onkelz. There even is a four day festival full of Onkelz worship and cover bands which attracted 10,000 visitors last year. And at the bar I work at people keep wishing Onkelz and similar bands, so that the boss even introduced an "Onkelz hour" on Saturday. I guess this is just a thing we normal people will never understand.
