If you could even stand to listen to that song once, you're a trooper man. Not to mention listening to it again and again or even enjoying it. You must have been the only guy on the whole festival.
to be honest, Auf Nach Wacken was imo by far the most overplayed song of the festival. but it's ok, that one is awesome too lol. i remember i asked some girls what the hell does "auf nach wacken, kopp im nacken" mean, and they answered me something like "you go to wacken, and put your head in booze" lol, i was something like "well, that makes sense!"

Yeah. I meant the Doro song. But now that you mention it, Angelripper's contribution is not less crappy.

"We Are the Metalheads" actually reminded me a lot of Warlock's "All We Are", which might be cheesy, but not as bad as "Wackenland Is Closed." No idea about Onkel Tom, somehow I've always managed to avoid his solo stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXmGeWwy4J4 - it's impossible that you haven't heard it. it was playing through the speakers every 5 minutes i swear.
but i guess i only like it more because it's far more energic than the other 2 songs. outside from the chorus i can't understand anything, so i'm just gonna assume the lyrics are shitty, awaiting your confirmation

I might have heard it, but I never really payed attention, so I didn't identify it as an Onkel Tom song. And to be honest right now I couldn't stand it long enough to make a statement about the lyrics.

The festival sold out.
Pun very much intended
No seriously, the tickets are officially sold out as of today.

I think that's bullshit, they are just announcing it as sold out to boost the ticket sales. Which worked for me as I went to Nuclear Blast website and purchased 4 tickets yesterday. But even on Metaltix they still sell em, though the site says sold out.

I'm honestly not sure I'm going anymore. I have a ticket, but my interest is slowly decreasing.

It's the best lineup since at least 2006, why's your interest decreasing?

LOL if it's the best line-up in years what's with all the whining about selling out and stuff?

It really is a pretty solid lineup compared to last years lineup but still miles away from what Hellfest or Brutal Assault offer.

Principle. If someone else earns a decent money with something, it has got to be bad!
Those guys just kinda lost touch with their audience. Few years ago you could just send them an email, ask for a band and they'd make it happen (if possible). Now they don't even reply anymore.

How so? Hellfest, despite being about as far away as Australia from where I live, doesn't tickle he half as much. And my quick peek at Brutal Assault shows an estimated 75% match with Wacken this year and at least another 10% of their lineup are bands like Children Of Bodom that play everywhere anyway therefore are as exciting as a dixi toilet on a big festival.
They do have Trail Of Tears though, that I'm jealous of.

Metter of tastes, I guess. But there's no denying that every year Brutal Assault gets really crazy exclusives like Bal Sagoth, Sigh, Macabre and Devourment, for example, this. Year. Last year they had fucking Brujeria and Ulver!!!!
Generic band like Children of Bodom are actually rarities on BA, check out the history of the festival.

Festivals have better and worse years. And Wacken unfortunately has become big enough to focus on the major acts like Iron Maiden. But it hasn't always been like that and I do think they still at least try to provide us with diversity and the occasional gem. After all they had Avantasia in '08, the reunion show of Immortal in '07, next to none less than ChtnoniC, fucking Emperor in '06 and unbelievable but true: Bloodbath in '05.
It's just tedious to bitch about it. Although Marcel will agree with you I guess.

Kamelot confirmed.
I can't modify a pending edit, only delete it and edit again. So if the guy that will process my edit from yesterday will add Kamelot as well, that'd be great.

I think I was just being lazy when I wrote this. I'm moving to Abu Dhabi next weekend and was worried about having to fly back to London then onto Germany (have already made plans from London). But I've done my budget and I can afford it so I'll stop being a whiney bitch and am looking fwd to Wacken and Hellfest

Yeah I know, but by the looks of things right now my GF will be finishing university right about the same time as Wacken. And I'm pretty sure I won't survive leaving for a festival when she does
...and a less important reason is, that I'll probably have to go alone since Kim will be in Canada.
But nothing is certain yet, and with the great lineup this year I'll my very best to attend

Haha well somehow I don't really believe you (or at least the part with the worst news this year) I'm still trying to persuade him though, so the battle is not yet lost
