I would normally choose the Old Metalstorm with the junkyard coz it was really fun and I got used to it........
not that I'm saying that the New Metalstorm isn't good NOOOOOOO I'm just saying that we used to have a lot of fun in the old Metalstorm + the junkyard..........
well I talked to Jeff a while ago and he said that MS is heading towards some really good development so I'm not going to vote yet but I would like to see what you guys think............
I LO VE MS however it is

I've only been on here since late 2005, and even then I was just interested in discovering new folk metal bands so I don't remember much of the features. I didn't become more active until recently, after getting a job where I'm mostly online for the shift, but from what I see the features are getting better everyday. I just noticed the popularity indexes and I love the collection breakdowns by style and country, it's a lot easier to gain an insight into people's minds through their music. (I've noticed that people who rate Death albums with 1's usually have Kamelot as a favorite. Vocal polarity? ) Just another reason why this site is the most informative, interesting, and fun part of my internet surfing.

Well I was here ages ago with the same name (joined about late 2003 or 2004), but was inactive for so long the account got deleted. I decided to pop back and redo my account and have found that this place has changed a lot! I don't know if I'm being stupid or not but I can't seem to find a link to the metal storm radio and it doesn't look like any compilations are being made any more (something I enjoyed listening to to find new bands). There also used to be nice features like rated people and so on which was fun, even if if was a little unnecessary. So I think I'm going to vote for old MS! (I don't know what the junkyard was). I do however like the new way of searching for bands and I like how you can watch band videos on here now. So I suppose its not all bad.

I don't remember the old one that well....sure I do remember the MS Pub and the junkyard but I think that right now the site is doing really fine and lots of new things have appeared and Ivan's improving everything all the time....therefore I'd say that MS is getting better all the time...

30.03.2008 - 09:49 Written by Bad English on 29.03.2008 at 21:20 Why someone would start feuds in an online world is pretty funny....and kind of sad. You gotta deal with jerks in real life all the time, why would you go and and want to do that in your own home on your own time. I like the mature users who you can get in a heated argument in one forum and then come to complete agreement with that same person in another forum. Kind of nice, some people help you learn about metals, some people make you feel bad for being ignorant instead of helping become not ignorant. Anyways, back on topic. When did the change over happen? Because I remember the old Metalstorm, and I know I was using this site for a few months before I got around to signing up. I cant remember what pushed me into signing up, perhaps it was the new site? I'm not sure, but from what I remember of the old site I think I like the new one better, sooooo many new cool features have been added lately.

old MS. i wasn't very active when the Junkyard existed, but after it got removed i started to post regularly. and it was much better than these days. i'm talking about the forum, not about the webzine part, which is obviously better nowadays. the forum was better because the users were interesting, and didn't just randomly pop up, write a few times then disappear forever. there were discussions about music, not just 'i like this album from this band' kinda chitchat that is so popular now. i also miss users who listen and talk about extreme metal.

30.03.2008 - 18:00 Written by Damnated on 30.03.2008 at 17:23 I can completely imagine what you mean. But perhaps its more due to ourselves, since we've been active for a long time. And saying "Emperor rules" for the 100th is not really interesting. i suppose it's a bit of a natural evolution. The thing is, my tastes have grown explosively, to the point where only a few people know the band (not trying to be elitist here, but its often true) which of course does not lead to a lot of discussion. The metalstorm forum mainly stays the same, cause the 'newbies' often have little (or less) knowledge in bands and metal, and the ones that do often leave because of this. The board just does not grow with you. It is of course impossible to expect that, as we're all just tiny parts of it. That's why I have focused on reviewing etc, cause I don't just want to leave this site.

31.03.2008 - 00:28 Written by Lucas on 30.03.2008 at 15:46 Ah, so I guess I was a member during the change over, I probably don't remember it too well because I vaguely remember getting a swift ban a few months after I signed up, so I rarely used the site in that period. I dont think I started seriously using the forums until probably June of 2006, shortly after the change.

the one is better because of its nice features. i am talking about website. the website is getting stronger day by day. and forum is something that depends on members, so i have no idea about forum. edit: http://web.archive.org/web/20031203214917/forum.metalstorm.ee/index.php?board=19 here you are with the hall of spams ... i liked that, but the truth it was it wasn't useful

When I joined in 2003 I'm pretty sure there wasn't a forum! There were just brief descriptions of each genre of metal and a few bands. I can't remember when it was that the site changed to this new look though.

Judas Priest had 237 fans, only one similar band, and Nostradamus was yet to be released. Those were the days, eh?

I got it to work for June 16 or 17. You could try finding your name from the online list or a band's list of fans, but it didn't work for me... I clicked someone's name and it said I needed to be logged in. ...I don't believe it, back then the top 20 contained Megadeth's Peace Sells, two from Iron Maiden, and none from Metallica! This place has really changed, mostly for the better, but I think that having a band's latest news out right on their main page was a pretty cool thing.

And I remember I'd an argument with you about Nirvana, lol.. I made a funny/stupid topic Nirvana vs Metallica.. Anyway I'm not really ashamed about those times, because then I was about 15, and in this 4-5 years I've found and learned many things both music and general metal.. By the way, I like that costume themes in previous version, that was cool.. I like to have such a thing again.
