Rest in power, Les!

Your contributions to JP's classic records from the 70's (including your drumming techniques that paved the way for such genres as speed metal and thrash metal) will never be matched.

I always thought his drumming on Exciter was so awesome and as a kid I couldn't believe he was drumming like that so early in metal history

RIP Les. He was perhaps my favorite of all Priest's drummers; there's a variety of personalities on their recordings with all the different drummers they've had and Judas Priest have been a very fortunate band with all the talented they've recruited over the years, but Binks's jazzy and technical playing on Stained Class stands out to me as being the most percussively interesting of all. He was also the only one of their drummers to receive a (co-)songwriting credit - aside from Scott Travis on Demolition's decidedly less memorable "Cyberface" - for "Beyond the Realms of Death". I was really disappointed that he had to retire from KK's Priest before recording anything; while I've found them sadly underwhelming, I was particularly curious about them due to Binks's involvement, and perhaps that would have made a difference.

As it happens, I listened to Killing Machine for the first time in a while just the other day; looks like it's time for Stained Class again.
