I present to you my top 50 most frequently listened-to albums of the year 2024, ordered by number of full listens. (The full list with number of full listens for albums that I thought I would listen to more than once can be found here) In other words, here are the albums that I've been most obsessively addicted to over the past year! Some statistics for these 50 albums: Statistics: Countries: USA = 16 Germany = 9 Sweden = 4 Norway = 3 Spain = 3 UK = 2 The Netherlands = 2 Australia = 1 New Zealand = 1 Ukraine = 1 Russia = 1 Poland = 1 Greece = 1 Chile = 1 Monaco = 1 Canada = 1 Hungary = 1 Saudi Arabia = 1 Years: 1970-1979: 0 1980 - 1989: 2 1990 - 1999: 5 2000 - 2009: 10 2010 - 2019: 6 2020 - 2024: 27 Genres: Black = 19 Death = 12 Doom & Stoner = 7 Thrash = 4 Grindcore = 4 Sludge = 3 Ambient = 1 Conclusions: USA and Germany consistently remain my most popular metal countries. In comparison to last year, I spent most of my time with recent releases, specifically from 2024, instead of exploring older albums. And while black metal remains the genre I most listen to, death metal rose in the ranks back to 2nd place (mostly due to the great death metal selection of 2024).
