I first listened to Dark Tranquillity when I started listening to In Flames and heard about this incredible year of Gothernberg Metal in 1995/96 which included In Flames' The Jester Race, At The Gates' Slaughter of the Soul, and Dark Tranquillity's The Gallery. I'd already heard The Jester Race and loved it, so decided to check out the other bands mentioned and was amazed by the combination of technicality, ferocity and melody. Since then, Dark Tranquillity has become one of my all-time favourite bands even with the dramatic shift between The Gallery and Haven.
