Blind Guardian - North American Tour Dates Announced

Blind Guardian has released the following press statement:

"Triumphantly returning to North American shores in support of the Billboard-charting new album At The Edge Of Time, we are pleased to announce the western hemisphere's portion of the Sacred Worlds And Songs Divine 2010 World Tour, commencing on November 19th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and concluding on December 22nd in West Springfield, Virginia. Support acts are California's Holy Grail and Florida's Seven Kingdoms.

Hansi checks in from the secret Blind Guardian bunker about the upcoming trek: "Christmas will be a little earlier this year, 'cause The Guardian is coming to town in November and December! The band is really excited to announce this upcoming tour. Finally, we will get the chance to preach our Sacred Words and play our Songs Divine somewhere near your neighborhood. We have prepared a nice package of music and bands for our Northern American followers. Our friends from Holy Grail and Seven Kingdoms will join us on this glorious mission and will have their part in these magical nights to come. Both bands are underground now, but I can feel that the future is theirs. They really carry the spirit of a new American Power Metal generation. Touring the U.S. and Canada does always means a tremendous amount of fun, so we are really anxious to see if the people in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, and Albuquerque - where we have not played before - can scream as loud as their brothers and sisters in New York, Quebec, Toronto, or Hollywood. We'll soon find out when we meet you at the edge of time."

Francesco joined us for our last two gigs at Summer Breeze and Nihil Fest and showed his great musical skills and personality. He will take part of the future studio activities too."

Kamelot - Vocalist Falls Ill, N. American Tour Postponed

Original news, posted on 04.09.2010

Kamelot have made the following statement:

"The band and crew are all here in Tampa rehearsing for the tour. Visas have been cleared and the guys are in good spirits and ready to party with all of you. However, during rehearsals, Roy Khantatat became severely ill. Due to this, as yet undiagnosed, illness, Roy reluctantly has been forced to head back home to Norway. He is currently under his physician's care, but unfortunately these circumstances will prevent him from joining us on the North American concert tour. Of course, we want Roy to take care of his health as priority one for now and for the future.

After much consideration on how to proceed, all of us in Kamelot feel strongly about keeping our commitment to our fans, promoters, and support bands on this tour! We are all ready and excited about playing these shows, we have flown in people from around the world to be apart of it and it has been in the works over a year! Therefore, we are working diligently with a fantastic singer willing to step in at the eleventh hour in order to make this tour a reality - our good friend Michael Eriksen from Circus Maximus has agreed to fill in for Roy! And we are excited to announce a special guest: Swedish vocalist Elize Ryd from Amaranthe will be joining the band on the North American Tour. She will also be part of the VIP meet and greet! Elize toured with us on our Summer Pandemonium Tour and also the European tour earlier this Spring.

Roy also commented: "I am terribly sorry that I cannot do this upcoming tour in North America this fall. We have our most fantastic album ever coming out in September, and the timing could have been better I guess. The band has my full and unconditional blessing to go out there and kick ass regardless, and I feel we have found a good replacement in Michael. He is a very good singer and long time friend. Be good to him! Hope to see you soon!"

Michael states: "Roy and I go way back, so when he called and asked me to help him and the rest of Kamelot to do their long planned USA tour, I told him, 'Sure bro, I am there for you.' It will be big shoes to fill, but in his honor I will do my best to give the Kamelotfans a show they have long awaited. So grab your earplugs and come join the party!"

UPDATE: (thanks to 36904)

Last week, Kamelot announced that vocalist Roy "Khan" Khantatat was sitting out the upcoming North American trek because of a severe illness. Circus Maximus Michael Eriksen would be falling in for Khan. But now the band has announced they're postponing the tour altogether. Here's the official word:

Mantic Ritual - Part Ways With Drummer

US thrashers Mantic Ritual have posted the following statement on their blog:

"As some of you may already know, we are no longer working with our drummer, Adam Haritan. This was a mutual decision and we all agree that it's best for everyone involved. It's been obvious to us for some time that Adam was not as interested in making music as he once was, and we all thought this would be a good time for him to pursue other things while we found another drummer who can be fully dedicated to Mantic Ritual. There are no hard feelings between us, and we're grateful for all the time and effort Adam has put into this band over the last five years. We wish him the best and we're sure he'll be successful in whatever path he chooses.

Mantic Ritual will be looking for a new drummer immediately to continue writing, recording, and touring. We'll be back in action as soon as possible!''

Ex-drummer Adam adds: "The time has come for me to part ways with Mantic Ritual. Over the past few months, my heart has been pulling me in a different direction, and it has been hard to fight the urge to follow my passion. Although I will no longer be the drummer of Mantic Ritual, I'll always be a strong supporter of the band and remain great friends with Ben, Jeff, and Dave. Some of my most cherished memories in life involve this band, and I'll never forget them. Emerson stated it perfectly when he said, "We change, whether we like it or not." One year ago I had no idea that I'd be returning to school, immersed in a non-musical field, but that's the way the Universe works. I wish nothing but the best for the band, and hope the guys thrive in everything they do."

Monster Magnet - New Album Details

Monster Magnet have revealed more details for the upcoming new album Mastermind. The album is scheduled for an October release via Napalm Records.

Monster Magnet songwriter and frontman, Dave Wyndorf, described Mastermind as follows: "It's a big, beefy ball of demented anthems and power rock. The music itself is exaggerated and muscular. Like classic rock gone insane! Giant hooks, giant sounds. The rockers are direct and intense. The ballads, trippy and strange. It's guitar heaven.

The lyrics read like a fever-dream of life in the 21st century. Cynicism, optimism, satire, sex, deluded fantasies and dead-on reality. They're all here - sometimes even in the same song! In my world, images, information and emotions tend to intertwine. I'll describe the smallest details of my personal life in crazy, cinematic terms. When I write, the words play out in my mind like scenes from a movie and that's the vibe I tried to capture on Mastermind - rapid-fire emotion. What can I say? I'm having a weird life and I have to write it down that way.

In the end though, Mastermind ROCKS, and that's what's most important.

Mastermind tracklist:

01. Hallucination Bomb
02. Bored With Sorcery
03. Dig That Hole
04. Gods and Punks
05. The Titan Who Cried Like A Baby
06. Mastermind
07. 100 Million Miles
08. Perish In Fire
09. Time Machine
10. When The Planes Fall From The Sky
11. Ghost Story
12. All Outta Nothin'
