Yes Carcass and At The Gates are really attractive. Also Eluveitie and Anathema seem to be interesting for me. I like both two but never see them on stage. I hope to correct it in June.

Of course Carcass and At The Gates would be interesting, but I could see them at Wacken, if I am going. The two others you named don't excite me at all .

Yes if you could see them at Wacken, go to Germany.
I hope that the Hellfest final line-up will be better than Wacken, like last year

Yeah... me too... I'll be able to save some money on the bus tickets .
@Opium: I will see them either at Wacken or at Hellfest. But I can't do both . Unless you start selling yourself and give me the money you earn during those long nights .

It IS already better than this year's Wacken line-up by a long long long way.
Plus the bonus is it isn't as crowded as wacken, here you can actually see the bands perform.

Yes Marcel, totaly agree with you. I think Wacken is too much crowded to really apreciate it. "Monsters" bands are good, but it's easy to see them on other dates. From far, I prefer more modest bands and so talented, playing on smaller stage, but where you can see band's performances.
And then I'm sure that the organization of the Hellfest keep other killer announcements for the next (Or at least they work on that )

going by last year, the organisation was the worst part of the festival. quite a number of things went wrong; the electric problem, not keeping on top of the rain, bands not being able to play/pulling out on the day, making a mess of getting into the festival site, etc..
but although Wacken is totally overwhelming and run so smoothly, Hellfest was probably the most comfortable feeling of the two because the place wasn't packed full (forgetting the rain)

Yes you highlight the main problem in Hellfest: the chaotic organisation.
In 2005, I was at the Fury Fest in Le Mans (the year before changing name of the festival to Hellfest). It was already a big chaos. Doors opened after the scheduled hour, but bands have already started to play
But I think that a perfect organization does not exist for such festivals. It is so hard to manage. The most important is to hold the errors of the previous years, correct them to improve the events next years.
For me the progress of such events remains the most important thing, for the music, for metal, for bands, and of course for metalheads. Taking part to such festivals is a fucking great aventure

If it runs too smoothly, it just doesn't feel right! Running orders being constantly in change, bands pulling out at the very last moment, weather chaos, what would a festival be without all this? The best festivals still are those that make you feel that they've been organized by fans for fans.

Exactly! Because, those festivals you remember more vividly are those where things got screwed up big time, like last year's Hellfest or the first day of Graspop 2005, or, even better, the Metalliance 2006 in Beauvais (ok, no, this one was a joke).
A metal festival is all about mud, booze, great music, weird people, merchandising, crappy and overpriced food and organizational issues. If everything ran as planned, I'd feel like I'm going to the museum. Our lives usually go pretty smoothly, we need a little chaos from time to time. And hey, it's Metal \m/ lol

I'd really like see Shining, but I suppose I'll go to Wacken if the MS meeting is there.

there's probably more chance of most of us being in France again at Hellfest.. I would imagine anyway.. but we'll have to see how the lineups turn out!

Don't know. Ivan was talking about a meeting at Wacken, last friday when I met him. For me personally there's also a chance of going to Jerusalem. If that becomes real I cant go to any festival as I simple cannot skip that.

A shame that such a laughable band as Sonata Arctica is already programmed in an otherwise BRILLIANT line-up. Hopefully when Sonata plays no other bands are playing cause then that time-slot will be a great moment for a Metal Storm meeting or to get some food.
Sonata Arctica, what the hell were the organizers thinking? Next thing you know they'll also have Stratovarius, Primal Fear, Gamma Gay etc.

The next official announcement by the Hellfest staff will be done on January the 18th.

Totally agree with you oonce again.
@EVERYONE reading this: No Collin and I are not one and the same person
So, Collin, what do you say to the proposition of the two of us going for food and BEER/WINE during Sonata Craptica and SoDumb? And having a great time during Alchemist/Madball/Origin (if those bands are to be confirmed of course)
