Interesting concept!
I like the idea of dedicating one month to one subgenre. Although I probably could never do that - my mood shifts around all the time and therefore I jump constantly between thrash and death and black and heavy and power... listening to only death metal for an entire month would get very boring very quickly for me
But I admire your commitment (82 albums in 31 days?! )
By the way, how did you decide on the which subgenre corresponds to which month?

Interesting, I have always had a tendency to listen to a single genre for a month or so, at the moment I'm going through a power metal frenzy, no idea how I got here though, eventually the genre's overlap, for instance power metal will merge into heavy metal at some point, which will merge into thrash, then into death, then black, then gothic, and somehow back round again until I end up back at power metal again.
I used to listen to music that motivated me at a particular time.

Ya, I had a lot of fun with this. I got the idea for this concept when I realized that I had just been scratching the surface of most genres and mostly only listening to new releases. It was difficult to stay on a single genre for an entire month but I made sure that I selected the right genre that would fit the mood of that month. I did this for 1 year, actually starting with Deathtober. I then continued to follow the theme and add a few albums if the mood struck me the following year, that's why there's so many.
If not I, it would be cool if someone took this concept and created a physical calendar based on this concept.

You should do it too! I'd love to see someone else's genre calendar.

Well, I also find myself binging a certain genre or band, but I think it usually lasts one or two weeks, but not a whole month. It's definitely nice to take a break from a certain genre, because when you return to it after so long, it all sounds fresh again!
