Most Interesting Interludes/Intros/Outros
Most Interesting Interludes/Intros/Outros
(This list is a work in progress)
In this list I intend to compile all of my favorite interludes, intros, outros, short acoustic tracks, instrumentals, non-metal or otherwise atypical songs from the metal multiverse. Of course the definitions for each of the above are quite fluid, so you may personally disagree with my decision to consider one of these tracks as such.

1.
Death
- The Sound Of Perseverance
Voice of the Soul - Probably the most thought-inducing track I've ever heard, perhaps in light of Chuck's passing not much later. Morbid yet serene.

2.
Bathory
- Blood Fire Death
Odens Ride Over Nordland - There is something to this track that encapsulates the essence of the later 2nd wave of BM.

|
3.
Melechesh
- Emissaries
The Scribes of Kur - This is a song I've heard for the first time relatively recently, but it blew me away. Although this one is rather lengthy, it still feels transitional.

4.
Agalloch
- The Mantle
A Celebration for the Death of Man... - For people like me with a preference for wintry aesthetic, this mesmerizes and compels the listener to check the whole record... which then turns out to deliver every bit of the quality of this intro for, like, another hour. The Mantle is as majestic as this song.

5.
Megadeth
- Rust In Peace
Dawn Patrol - Every time I hear this I am reminded of StarCraft 1 and 2. Real gamers know.
|
|
6.
Dissection
- Storm Of The Light's Bane
At the Fathomless Depths - One of the greatest melodies I've had the honor of hearing.
|
|
7.
Metallica
- Master Of Puppets
Orion - Obviously a very widely-known track, but I have a weird connection with it because it fuses, for me, late 80's Metallica with something I identify as early 70's prog rock influence (or maybe too much time has passed since I listened to that genre a lot and I link this to Yes, Pink Floyd and King Crimson for only an emotional reason?)

8.
Agalloch
- The Mantle
A Desolation Song - I can't believe I love a song featuring an accordion so much (I think it's an accordion anyway)
|
|
9.
Decapitated
- Winds Of Creation
Dance Macabre - sounds like a soundtrack to an evil wizard's dungeon in a mid-90's cRPG. It's eerie and I love it.
|
|
11.
Lord Belial
- Enter The Moonlight Gate
Forlorn in Silence - Beautiful harmonies. I like to listen to this when I feel forlorn in silence.
|
|
12.
Insomnium
- Above The Weeping World
The Gale - A wonderful piano melody which captured my attention the moment I first heard it.
|
|
13.
|
|
15.
Aeternus
- Beyond The Wandering Moon
The Last Feast - Let us feast then, Thor, until the dawn wakes us and the mead runs out...
|
|
17.
Eximperitus
- Šahrartu
Šaqummatu - The build up to Utpada is absolutely monstrous, largely thanks to the gradual increase in volume, intensity, drumming excellence and guitar sound!
|
|
19.
Stormkeep
- Tales Of Othertime
The Citadel - Makes me think of the cutscene in Baldur's Gate that plays upon entering the Friendly Arm Inn
